Oil and gas prices are skyrocketing due to Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu’s illegal war in Iran, which has resulted in thousands of civilian casualties, numerous war crimes, and the displacement of over 1 million people in Lebanon.
America’s health infrastructure is declining due to the most incompetent and unqualified individuals, such as conspiracy theorist RFK J.R., abusing their privileged positions to promote tanning beds and lies about vaccines. They have literally made measles and preventable diseases great again in America, which has experienced a decline in life expectancy.
Oh, there’s also the ongoing Epstein scandal, which has prompted numerous investigations in Europe, but not a peep from Donald Trump and Pam Bondi, who are instead busy using the Justice Department to investigate Don Lemon, Renee Nicole Good, and Rep. Eric Swalwell.
That’s fantastic content for Democrats to use against MAGA ahead of the midterms.
Instead, corporate donors, “centrist” groups like The Third Way, and pro-Israel hawks have spent the past week focused on taking down one man: not Donald Trump, Netanyahu, Tucker Carlson, Peter Thiel, or Nick Fuentes.
Nope.
Hasan Piker.
Yes, that Hasan Piker, who is a young, social media content creator and progressive activist with a massive online following. He’s brash, at times uncouth, but commands influence over many young people who are disgusted with establishment politics. He’s also openly and proudly anti-Zionist and deeply critical of Israel. He has campaigned with and/or talked to AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Ro Khanna. The corporate gatekeepers didn’t say much then.
But when physician Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive Democratic candidate for Senate in Michigan, announced he was inviting Piker and Rep. Summer Lee for an upcoming rally, well, that was a bridge too far.
This was the response from Mallory McMorrow, who is also running for Senate and competing against El-Sayed in Michigan.
The chorus of manufactured criticism was echoed by Senators Elissa Slotkin and Haley Stevens. Oddly, they were all quiet when Gavin Newsom was chummy with Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Steve Bannon. In fact, Slotkin was on anti-Muslim bigot Bill Maher’s show on Friday night and didn’t use her time to push back against his history of hate.
We all see through the bullshit.
It’s the same smear tactic that has been launched against Zohran Mamdani, another Muslim man of color who is against genocide like El-Sayed. The same group of corporate Dem donors and AIPAC supporters is trying to neutralize any progressive candidate that is vocally anti genocide and pro-Palestinian.
This is what’s happening in New York against Effie Phillips-Staley.
El-Sayed joined Danielle and me on Democracy-Ish to respond to the backlash and criticism. He also explained why he is running for office and how this latest smear campaign won’t distract him from his message of standing up for economic equality, affordable health care, and justice for all Michiganders.
Give us a watch.
