The Politico framing above is the hot take of the corporate media and the establishment after last night’s Wisconsin results, in which Francesca Hong, a Democratic Socialist, lost to Crowley by .4 points, or almost 3,000 votes.
Interesting.
If that’s the case, then how do we explain the win of progressive candidate Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota’s Senate Primary or M4A candidate Matt Little winning the primary for MN-2, despite both candidates being outspent and attacked by corporate money, including AIPAC?
Maybe it’s a one-off.
Well, how do we explain Abdul El-Sayed overcoming a 10-1 spending deficit to defeat Haley Stevens in Michigan? What about the progressive candidates who also won last week, such as Will Lawrence and Donavan McKinney? Then there’s Zohran Mamdani, the really scary mayor of New York, who is a Democratic Socialist and doing such a terrible job that new polls reveal he is liked and favored by most New Yorkers.
The question you have to ask yourself is why, oh, why is there a desperate, inaccurate narrative that seeks to discount the growing popularity and success of a progressive movement that should otherwise be welcomed by the Democratic Party?
What’s so threatening about them? Why is the Democratic Establishment more comfortable siding with Republicans and Islamophobes than anyone to their left?
