Since the “founding” of America, this country, its institutions, and its stories have coddled and protected mediocre, white men. When it comes to conservative white men, this country bends over backwards to placate their endless grievances and indulge their bad-faith victimhood.
Just look at the entire existence of Donald Trump, a privileged, rich boy born with silver and golden spoons in his mouth who failed all the way up to the White House despite being an eminently unqualified, criminal vulgarian. Look at RFK Jr., Trump’s director of Health and Human Services, who is occupying a role that once required actual medical expertise, knowledge, and certification. Now, all you need is a tanning bed, conspiracy theories, and a famous last name.
Then there’s Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News host whose paper-thin resume includes alcoholism, financial mismanagement, racism, Crusader tattoos, and allegations of sexual assault. Hegseth, the poster child for Affirmative Action for White Men, has launched a war on “woke” and “DEI,” purging the armed forces of qualified women and people of color.
Apparently, what remains is the creme de la creme.
So, is America great again?
Nope!
Everything is worse, including our economy, cost of living, America’s national security, and our global standing, as an illegal and unwinnable war with Iran drags on. Had Trump followed the lead of our first Black President, Barack Obama, and kept the US-Iran deal, the world would be much safer. But, he had to mess it up and show the first Black President that he, a white man, was superior.
The tragedy of white supremacy is that it’s a self-destructive myth that ultimately weakens and harms white people, the same group it is trying to exalt as the Master Race. By attacking Black and brown people, white supremacy gives its adherents a temporary steroid injection, a brief illusion of supremacy, and an endless supply of fresh targets for their 24-7 culture war. But once the high wears off, all they’re left with is the ruin they’ve forged by their own hands.
