Fellow Muslim American commentator Qasim Rashid joins me to dismantle the hyperbolic hate machine against Zohran Mamdani and discuss how the Democratic leadership must accept its progressive base.
I'm 58 and we need to start passing this on to our younger citizens. Mayor Mamdani shocked me more because of his younger age than his religion. The Mayor of my town is under the age of 30 and he's the best mayor we've had in years. Our country is not any religion but is all religions. I think that this will be a great thing for New York. Thank you guys for all you do.
Your description of how the right view this momentous victory is spot on. I read far too many comments by the poorly informed trumpers that have predicted this outcome.
Waj, as an Iranian woman, I ask you to please not compare one devil with another; we have a brutal theocratic regime that belittles and harrasses women and lgbtq and imprisons and kills not only political activists, but literally any person, ordinary people, who would dare to protest, including teens and children. Please please even if you want to make comparisons, please talk about the civil and democratic movements that we have had in Iran, like the woman life freedom movement, not about random stuff that the brutal regime accidentally got right. Ironically, even though the regime in Iran finds the US to be its eternal enemy, the two regimes right now could not be more alike.
We need people that will lead as humanitarians. Big money and organizations want to divide us, we need to unite. Yes they will try to make politicians like Mamdani fail, they don't want to relinquish power. Schumer needs to retire.
Not sure where I got this from originally but someone said that in America, we no longer pursue happiness. Instead, we stave off despair, and that's all we can hope for, with the way things are. I think Mamdani gave a tiny glimpse of a better world, and he did it with clear eyes - none of that "The economy is joyful!" BS that Kamala had to swallow cause of Genocide Joe. Anyway, release the Epstein files, and I hope Lindsey Graham comes out soon.
Keep pounding on this message because the bigots are out in force. It's disgusting not only that they are hate-filled but also that the bigots lie constantly. Keep smacking them down, and bigots congratulations to Mayor Mamdani.
Things are indeed out of hand when an entire political party will embrace the return of Nazism but lose their collective minds over one well-meaning Muslim who just happens to have beaten out the competition for one of the most sought-after seats in politics. The foul meanness of their attacks on this bright young man just points up the rot that is driving their party to ruin!
The 5 points that Qasim Rashid spoke of are the same points in my Mandate at www.usalawreviewcommittee.com and I supported Mayor Mamdani, and I admire and subscribe to Wajahat Ali, one of my two favorite Podcasters, along with Danielle Moodie.

Well said Lori!
I also applaud the victory of Mr. Mamdani. A victory of progress on schumer-cuomo stagnation and deterioration.

You are right.

Schumer needs to retire and our Senator from Hawai’i - Brian Schatz - his little acolyte- needs to wake the fuck up.
This old old Jew is for Mamdani too !!!!! A Democratic Socialist just like me and all of America!!!!
I think that sounds great not just for NY but for all of us

Pelosi’s Time Has Come at an End!!! Now we can plan for the Future!!
I didn't realize I was gay! Clean and gay because we use a bidet in our house!
Well, I'd rather be gay than a White Nationalist MAGA dude.
This should be good. Sorry I missed it live.
