The January 6th insurrectionists are heroes, and according to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Renee Nicole Good was a “domestic terrorist” who “weaponized” her car against ICE agents and deserved to be shot and murdered.
George Orwell coined the term “doublethink” in his dystopian classic 1984 to explain how the totalitarian regime abused language to control an oppressed population by distorting facts, memory, and history. Through their 24/7 right-wing propaganda, aided by complicit corporate institutions and feckless centrist Democrats, promotion of the surveillance state, and celebration of government violence against dissenters, the GOP is doing its best Big Brother impression in 2026.
Thankfully, they don’t have the numbers, and the majority still believes the evidence of our eyes, which clearly saw a masked ICE agent murder 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good, who was legally and peacefully observing yet another unnecessary raid by Trump’s Gestapo. Good was killed less than a mile from where George Floyd was brutally choked to death by Officer Chauvin. Like before, MAGA has villainized the victims in death to fuel their “war on terror” against fellow Americans.
Even though ICE has publicly terrorized innocent communities, and nearly 30 people have already died in their custody, sometimes it just takes one video, one incident, one brutal murder to act as an ignition and rouse people from apathy. Protests are underway in several cities as people are condemning ICE and demanding accountability. A few Democrats are also threatening to shut down the government instead of funding this rogue DHS that rationalizes murdering Americans. We also need boycotts, marches, public shaming, and a commitment from Democratic leaders to “abolish ICE” or face primaries moving forward.
It’s late, but I felt compelled to share some thoughts on this horrific murder and how we need to mobilize moving forward.
