GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM...
How do you love a country that doesn't love you back? How do you fight to make it better? How can you laugh through the pain? Well, I have a book for you, folks!
Dear readers, I hope you can indulge me for this quick aside.
My publisher, Norton, has informed me that my book/memoir, GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM: AND OTHER HELPFUL RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO BECOME AMERICAN, has an absolutely amazing e-book sale that ends today, July 7th.
It’s only $1.99 for all e-books. You can buy it anywhere.
The book is also out in hardcover and paperback. However, as a child of immigrants, I couldn’t pass up sharing that it’s only $1.99 as an e-book.
The book is about loving a country that doesn’t love you back and how there’s still a chance to expand and stretch America to become the version of itself it portrays on the posters, but only if we confront and uproot our sins of racism, ignorance, and greed.
And it’s funny! I swear! I deliberately kept it short, around 215 pages, and it’s part memoir/commentary/history/pop culture, and hopefully, never boring.
I was also lucky to receive very warm, generous, and kind praise and recommendations from folks I respect, including Timothy Snyder, Dave Eggers, Sara Kendzior, Ishmael Reed, Suleika Jaouad, Cathy Park Hong, Min Jin Lee, Mohsin Hamid, Reza Aslan, Eddie S. Glaude, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, and Elie Mystal.
Thank you for indulging me. We will now return to our scheduled programming.
Here’s the link in case I’ve been able to convince you to pick it up. (Only 2 bucks!)
Waj, thanks for letting us know! I just bought it for my Kindle! 💙
Oh my gosh... You're book was sooo thought provoking! And informative for us *white folk*... I bought a hard cover when I started catching you on Substack. Superb writing, as you are indeed an expert storyteller. Incredible read, inspiring, and intelligent.
