Danielle Moodie and I dissect the unique dangers of Trump's potential cabinet and what, if anything, the rest of us can do to not only resist but also pace ourselves for the long journey ahead.

We have a super-sized edition of this week’s DEMOCRACY-ISH show. Initially, Danielle Moodie, my fabulous co-host, and I were going to do an audit of Trump’s Killer Clown Posse populated with criminals, liars, grifters, and conspiratorial nuts.

However, this was our first show together after an election where a majority of voters decided to reject a competent, educated, professional woman in favor of a man who fellated a microphone, incited an insurrection, and was held liable for sexually assaulting and defaming E. Jean Carroll. Alas, this is America. The question for many people of color, especially Black women, remains: Is this self-destructive country worth saving? Should more effort and labor be expended to help people who won’t help themselves? We discuss our raw emotions of betrayal and exhaustion, and how we are planning to spend the next 4 to 8 to 12 years taking of ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Considering that I’m still writing this, it’s clear we have decided to do our part to continue helping this country and resist Trump’s authoritarianism while also not compromising our health, joy, and well-being. As such, we break down how bad it’s going to get with the most odious Trump picks: anti-vax nut RFK Jr., Russian talking head Tulsi Gabbard, Christian nationalist Pete Hegseth, and alleged sex criminal Matt Gaetz.
