The modern Republican Party is an authoritarian, pro-death movement.
That might seem like hyperbole, but then how else will you explain their rhetoric, actions, and policies that will kill their own base and the most vulnerable people in society? It’s like a supervillain plot dreamt up by the Joker that is focused on maximizing pain and suffering.
Just look at the GOP’s signature piece of legislation, Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” that will add $3 trillion to the debt and give the richest people on Earth permanent tax cuts at the expense of gutting Medicaid. They’re also attacking Obamacare and using backdoor procedures to limit reproductive health care and women’s rights. While this is happening, the Trump Administration is attacking doctors, promoting anti-science conspiracies, defunding cancer research, and dismantling the National Institute of Health.
The result will be death.
Our fellow Americans will suffer as hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes close, especially in rural communities. People will be kicked off their health care coverage, the best minds will flee to other countries, and advanced medical research will stop to fund a $200 ballroom in the White House.
If you think you’ll escape the pain due to your wealth and privilege, you’re sadly mistaken. We’re all connected, whether we like it or not. Just remember what happened during COVID-19. Now imagine what it will be like when Republicans dismantle our public healthcare infrastructure.
However, we still have some time to correct the course and imagine and work towards a better future. This is what Nourbese Flint, Executive Director of All Above All, has been doing for nearly two decades. She’s the first woman of color founder of a reproductive justice PAC and has been trying to sound the alarm about the upcoming collapse of our health care system. She breaks down how the GOP policies will aggressively harm and kill Americans, but also provides actionable steps on how to reform our broken system.
