How does a twice-impeached, criminal vulgarian who was held liable for sexual assault, defamation, and fraud become the President of the United States after he was convicted?
The answer is mediocracy.
That’s the combination of white supremacy and greed, the two original sins of America, that explain the nation’s commitment to self-destruction by elevating the world’s most fragile, mediocre men to positions of power.
It’s a 24/7 Festivus and projection by the most privileged class in America’s history. They know they can’t compete with the rest of us - the DEI hires - on a level playing field. So, they must rewrite history, gerrymander, ban books, rig the Supreme Court, and unleash violence against people of color to delude themselves into believing the fiction that they are the master race.
This story is a perpetual reboot and remake in America, ever since the term “white” was invented to elevate rich landowners at the expense of everyone else.
It explains how brutal white enslavers are, somehow, the victims of the Civil War - “The Lost Cause" - and have monuments and statues created in their honor despite being racist traitors who lost the war. This explains how Birth of a Nation, the 1915 movie that was based on white nationalist books, was screened by President Wilson and helped revitalize the KKK. This explains “The Southern Strategy” that lured white, Southern Democrats to the Republican Party because to them equality looked like oppression. It explains Donald Trump and the MAGA movement’s entire reason for being and their desire to hijack this country back to the 19th century.
In this blunt as F conversation with the great Joy-Ann Reid, we connect the dots and explain how the Trump Administration is populated by the world’s most mediocre conservative Affirmative Action hires who would rather burn America down than share the country with the rest of us.
