As I wrote for Zeteo yesterday, MAGA’s Two Dads are Divorcing, and no one has claimed JD Vance yet.
The fracture between the world’s richest racist, Elon Musk, and the world’s most powerful racist, Donald Trump, was widening all week and reached a rupture on Thursday. Now, the world butters its popcorn as we all watch two immature, petty, fickle vulgarians trade insults and threats on social media. The divorce was inevitable, but the sudden viciousness and backstabbing have been surprising even to the most cynical and jaded among us.
Regardless of who “wins” this fight, it’s important to remember that both represent the worst of human personalities, and their mutual weakening will be a salve for America and global politics. If the growing fight creates fissures within the MAGA movement, which is already witnessing splinters and petty feuds, then so be it.
Our job is to pour fuel on this fire.
Another way to exploit this rift is to use the fight to expose the utter depraved mediocrity and selfishness of the billionaire class that establishment politicians and pundits have adulated for decades. These men of wealth and privilege are insecure, drug-addicted morons. They are not geniuses or Kings or Gods. They are emotionally broken men who are good at spinning bullshit and use their wealth to con people into worshipping them as modern Ubermenches. They are also cruel, craven, and care only about their bottom line. Musk ultimately turned on Trump because of his ego. He couldn’t care less about the deficit, and his DOGE cuts have already resulted in the preventable deaths of thousands of kids.
As such, the last thing we should do is ally with Musk and the broligarchy per the suggestion of Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat from Silicon Valley. There is no “redemption arc” for pro-Sieg Heil white supremacists, regardless of their wealth and the damage they can do to Trump. If anything, this moment should be exploited to imagine a future beyond billionaires and their corruption of modern politics. It should be about reformation, not restoration, and uplifting those fighters willing to take on the broligarchy.
I invited writer Jared Yates Sexton, editor of the excellent Dispatches From a Collapsing State Substack, to strategize and imagine how the majority can exploit this Musk-Trump feud for the greater good.
Give us a watch!
