ICE is so cruel, extreme, and vicious in terrorizing fellow Americans that they have radicalized a former Republican who grew up in a law enforcement family and spent her career backing the Blue. Tara Setmayer, who left the GOP after Trump took over the party in 2016, spent most of her career as a conservative warrior promoting the Republican agenda. Now, she’s joining the majority and calling out Stephen Miller and Trump’s Gestapo that is abusing the badge to harass and assault innocent Americans.
Thanks to community reporting and video footage, the world has seen ICE zip-tie kids, shoot pepper balls at an unarmed priest, grab and throw unarmed seniors, and lie about manhandling women and journalists. They are emboldened and acting with impunity. If they can tackle Senator Padilla, arrest Mayor Baraka, and raise their weapons at Rep. Maxine Waters, what makes you think you’ll be safe?
The sad and tragic reality is that brown and Black lives simply don’t matter as much in America. When our communities were the ones getting our skulls cracked or having our family members arrested, a majority of Americans, including Democrats, turned the other way and decided to be “tough” on crime. First, this Trump Administration went after the undocumented. Then, they decided to crack down on pro-Palestinian activists. Transgender kids became the convenient scapegoats in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Recently, the Supreme Court allowed racial profiling for ICE to unleash hell against peaceful communities in Los Angeles.
Well, the border has now crossed Portland and Chicago, and ICE is going after everyone, including white folks.
Trump, Stephen Miller, and Pam Bondi have vowed to go after “Antifa,” which doesn’t exist as an organization, punish thought crimes, and abuse the power of the government to attack Trump’s critics, which include Letitia James and Jimmy Fallon. This is significant overreach, and now MAGA is showing cracks with Joe Rogan, Tim Dillon, and even MTG distancing themselves a bit from the cruelty. As Trump weakens, he will become more belligerent and desperate.
That’s why everyone needs to do their part to stand up and resist.
