It's Time For Democrats To Embrace Progressives and Ditch Corporate Centrism

The Democratic Establishment continues to ignore its base and cozy up to billionaires, AIPAC, and Silicon Valley goons proving that they will always choose restoration to reform and progress.

“Waj, why are you so harsh on the Democratic establishment and centrist Democrats? We need to unite against MAGA!”

Readers and viewers often ask me these questions, or a variation of them, whenever I criticize the Democratic establishment and warn of the corruption and danger of so-called “centrist Democrats.” I am accused of fracturing a movement that must align against a racist, authoritarian threat that is Donald Trump and the entirety of the MAGA movement. “Vote Blue no matter who!” I am repeatedly told.

Although I agree there’s no comparable “both sides” when it comes to the parties, I also trust the evidence of my eyes and ears. For the past decade, what has the “establishment,” which is clearly more concerned with performative civility than actual progress, done to hold Trump and the broligarchy accountable for their numerous sins? Have they truly embraced the rest of us, their own base, which continues to march, advocate, and loudly protest for increasingly popular progressive positions that are political winners?

Bipartisan Group of Senators Meets With Netanyahu Despite ICC Arrest Warrant | Truthout

I recall Democrats bear-hugging Liz Cheney and Never Trump Republicans at the 2024 DNC and aggressively sidelining Palestinians. I remember “centrist” Democrats caving on the government shutdown and betraying their own party and base, who wanted them to fight to extend Obamacare subsidies, which, predictably, the Republicans are allowing to expire. I remember when the same banks that destroyed our economy in 2008 were “too big to fail.” I remember that Chuck Schumer embraced war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, but hasn’t done the same for Zohran Mamdani. Speaking of the first Muslim mayor of NYC, the Democratic Establishment threw everything, including a Bill Clinton and Islamophobia at Mamdani, to ensure he would lose to a disgraced politician, Andrew Cuomo.

Nonetheless, Mamdani persisted and won. All the polls and momentum reveal that the majority is firmly against the broligarchy, demands affordability, and wants to tax billionaires. However, front-runner Gavin Newsom recently welcomed these same billionaires to the Democratic “big tent” and opposed taxing them. Democratic voters are asking for AI regulation, but the Democratic Establishment, led by Rep. Jeffries, just announced the creation of the “House Democratic Commission on AI and the Innovation Economy.” Young people around the world are radicalized by the genocide in Gaza and increasingly support Palestinians, so, naturally, Hilary Clinton decides to speak at racist Zionist Miriam Adelson’s conference in NYC, where she blamed TikTok for radicalizing young people and not, you know, the war crimes and occupation. Disgraced Democratic politician Henry Cuellar, who was just pardoned by Trump on corruption charges, will now be retaking his leadership position.

What more do people need to hear and see?

In this hour-long conversation with my former co-host Francesca Fiorentini, we discuss why the majority must cull the Democratic party of corporate centrists and replace them with fighters willing to champion progressive reform that will uplift everyone. We also discuss MAGA’s current implosion and how Nick Fuentes and the Groypers are positioned to win over disaffected voters by moving to the left on Israel and affordability.
