It’s time to openly use the correct language to describe the modern GOP and conservative movement. They are fascists.
They are part and parcel of an authoritarian project that seeks right-wing minoritarian rule by any illegal and violent means necessary. If you needed proof, I give you the entire political career of Donald Trump. This is a man who incited a violent insurrection, pardoned those insurrectionists, and has repeatedly sought retribution against any of his critics, both real and imagined. He is now going after President Obama with a completely bogus conspiracy to distract from the growing Epstein scandal.
He has quoted Hitler, promoted Nazi conspiracy theories, and purged our institutions of competent patriots and replaced them with Reeks, such as Pete Hegseth, Kash Patel, and Pam Bondi. He has the Supreme Court conservative majority on speed-dial, which rubber stamps his wishes through the shadow docket, just like it did today, allowing Trump to remove consumer product safety regulators. Right-wing media and corporate media are now his propaganda outlets, and ICE is acting like his Gestapo.
Ruth Ben-Ghiat, author, historian, and scholar on authoritarians, has been sounding the alarm for years. She’s been connecting the dots and citing the parallels between Trump’s actions with dictators of the past. I asked her to assess the current moment in which corporations like Paramount are voluntarily bending the knee to Trump, and ICE was just given a $180 billion budget by the GOP thanks to their billionaire bill from hell.
How desperate will Trump become as the Epstein scandal further drags his approval ratings? What will he do to stay in power? Also, how are the broligarchy grooming J.D. Vance to take over, and what are their plans for America in which the majority will be poorer, sicker, and overwhelmed with crises and disinformation?
