MAGA’s Racism Turns Cannibalistic. I Welcome It.

MAGA is now turning on each other after Donald Trump publicly embraced notororious bigot and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. The majority should welcome the petty and the fight.

Who would’ve thought Donald Trump’s public adulation of fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter was him forshadowing MAGA’s rampant cannibalism ahead of the 2024 election?

I, for one, welcome MAGA acolytes, racists, conspiracy theorists, and bigoted extremists unleashing their depraved venomous hate against each other instead of innocent Haitian immigrants, women, LGBTQ+, teachers, and Muslims. The famous meme of Japanese actor Ken Watanabe saying “Let them fight” from the Godzilla movies is replaying in my head as I watch the public feud between Laura Loomer and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

It’s Racist v. Racist in a competition of who is less racist. No matter who loses, we all win. 

For those of you who aren’t masochists and willingly following the unhinged machinations of denizens slithering in the right-wing media ecosystem, let me catch you up to speed. Donald Trump decided to fly with notorious anti-Muslim bigot and plastic surgery enthusiast Laura Loomer on his way to the Presidential debate. He also took her to the 9-11 memorial in NYC even though she is a 9-11 truther who claimed the terror attacks were “an inside job.”

It is known that Trump generally repeats the talking points of people he just interacted with so it’s no surprise he became a one-trick pony at the debate and, unsurprisingly, kept promoting baseless lies about immigrants. He repeated Laura Loomer’s shameful and false posts about Haitian immigrants eating pets. Trump’s V.P. JD Vance also promoted this disinformation and fear-mongering even though it has repeatedly been debunked. Even after it was revealed that these lies have incited terror threats, Trump decided to double down on stochastic terrorism and used his immense influence to paint a target on vulnerable Haitian Americans living in Springfield, Ohio. At his rally in Arizona, Trump said, “Illegal Haitian migrants [are] taking over a beautiful place… Nobody knows where they come from.” (Answer: Haiti, and they aren’t taking over anything.) 

The GOP has been fine normalizing Trump’s cruelty and has conveniently overlooked his alliances with anti-semite Nick Fuentes, Putin, Kim-Jong Un, Paul Manafort, budget Goebbels Stephen Miller, and violent insurrectionists. But we have now learned that even MAGA has its limits, and its name is Laura Loomer. 

The former queen of mean, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, blasted Loomer’s racism after she wrote that The White House will “smell like curry” and “White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center” if Kamala Harris, a daughter of an Indian mother, would win in 2024. Apparently disrespecting Indians is a bridge too far for Rep. Greene who said Loomer’s “rhetoric and hateful tone” doesn’t represent MAGA. This is rich coming from the woman who believed in Jewish Space Lasers and went out of her way to mock a survivor of a high school shooting. (Nonetheless, the bar is low, so thank you to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s one Indian friend on behalf of all South Asians.)

Trump’s South Carolina Reek, Sen. Lindsey Graham, also condemned Loomer and called out her history of “disturbing” and “cruel” statements. For her part, Loomer clapped back against both Rep. Greene and Senator Graham, mocking the former for her alleged extra-marital affairs and goading the latter to come out of the closet. 

The GOP’s problem is that Loomer is the perfect representation of the party’s sad and willing devolution into an extremist, far-right, hate movement that seeks minority rule by any conspiratorial theory necessary. If I may use an exquisite Alien analogy, the Republican Party are the Engineers and Loomer is the Xenomorph, their manufactured alien hybrid that has escaped the lab and gained consciousness. She is the inevitable end result of the racist dog whistle injected with steroids and served as talking points for a narcissistic reality TV show host who seeks power to escape accountability.

Laura Loomer is the voice and id of MAGA. She is the uncomfortable reflection they choose to ignore when they look in the mirror and delude themselves into believing they’re patriotic warriors for Christ.

It makes perfect sense that the lethal cocktail of racism, lies, and hate that the GOP has used for decades would ultimately be turned against them. Frankenstein’s monster now has social media and is unafraid and unhinged to go after its creator. Let it destroy all of them and burn the party to ashes.
