Make America Dead Again

Donald Trump and MAGA's commitment to racism, hate, and grievances will only elevate the most extreme and least qualified individuals whose zealotry and ignorance will kill innocent Americans.

Christmas came early for the Grim Reaper who has been salivating the past week since an unqualified convicted criminal and fraudster was re-elected as President. MAGA, whose core ideology is fueled by rage, grievance, and white supremacy, should re-negotiate with the Reaper and start charging a commission for their remarkable ability to increase preventable injuries and deaths.

Earlier today, Donald Trump fielded questions from the White House Press Corp about a tragic collision between an American Airline plane and a Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac that killed every passenger, including members of the U.S. figure skating team. Unsurprisingly, Trump displayed his trademark lack of empathy, kindness, and curiosity and launched into a blame game checking off several names he has compiled on his personal “Kill Bill list.”

Without providing any evidence, Trump blamed and attacked the following people: President Biden, even though he is no longer the President; President Obama, who hasn’t been President for some time; DEI hires, because why miss an opportunity to attack women and people of color; the pilot, who by the way was a white man; and the former head of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, who responded with some facts and demanded Trump, who is the President, actually lead for once.

When asked by incredulous reporters why he believed DEI could have caused what seems like a preventable collision, Trump replied, “Because I have common sense. OK. And, unfortunately, a lot of people don’t.” Personally, I don’t know if I have common sense but I just think it’s smart to retain highly qualified, experienced professionals who are responsible for public safety. For example, unlike Trump, I wouldn’t have fired the head of TSA and put a hiring freeze on air traffic controllers. But, then again, that’s just me.

Trump has promised to replace all these “DEI hires” and individuals who haven’t proven their loyalty to him and MAGA with the most qualified people. “For some jobs, we need the highest level of genius,” Trump said as he was flanked by a former Real World TV star, who is our new head of Transportation, and a former Fox host with a history of sexual assault allegations who is our new Secretary of Defense. Without a trace of irony or self-reflection, Pete Hegseth told the world, “The era of DEI is gone at the Defense Department, and we need the best and brightest — whether it’s in our air traffic control or whether it’s in our generals or whether it’s throughout government.”

This includes our Health and Human Services which will be run by a thoroughly unqualified vaccine skeptic and liar who has no medical training whatsoever. Yes, RFK Jr., whose own cousin just denounced him as a dangerously unstable “predator,” seems to have convinced Republican Senators that he is qualified to oversee Medicare and Medicaid despite not being able to answer basic questions about both programs. It doesn’t matter that he once had brain worms or has lied repeatedly about his positions on abortion or that he is a vaccine skeptic whose advice possibly led to the numerous preventable deaths in Samoa from measles or that he promotes anti-semitic conspiracies or that he’ll be a disaster during a time where measles and polio and bird flu are making a comeback. All that matters is that he’s loyal to Donald Trump and willing to promote the MAGA agenda. The tragic irony is that RFK Jr. has promoted the slogan “Make America Healthy Again” and promised to combat “the chronic disease epidemic in this country” by actively helping disease and death with ignorance, conspiracies, and misinformation.

White supremacy has always been violent and self-destructive. This fire burns everything and everyone it touches, and eventually self-immolates those who fueled it. For the fleeting feeling of superiority and to own the libs, a plurality of Americans have voluntarily chosen to be willing sheep for an aspiring authoritarian who serves as the Grim Reaper’s handmaiden.
