33-year-old NYC assemblyman Zohran Mamdani shocked the world by handily defeating Andrew Cuomo, thanks, in part, to being cross-endorsed and supported by a Jewish candidate, Brad Lander, and a Black candidate, Michael Blake. This is a beautiful American story. It’s quintessential New York. It’s the realization of the American dream for the majority and a non-stop nightmare for all the worst people who will cry and rage themselves to sleep tonight.
Here’s just an example of some of my favorite unhinged meltdowns:
It’s the small things in life that give me joy, folks.
Mamdani’s victory represents a seismic and historic shift for the Democratic Party and a bellwether for the nation. The majority is done with establishment politics and their manicured puppets who receive corporate talking points. The people value sincerity and authenticity above age and experience. They want passionate fighters who have convictions and are willing to articulate them in the face of racist double standards and ridiculous questions about Israel and terrorism that are only asked of people of color and Muslims.
Mamdani never shied away from his views or his identities. He is a brown man with a Muslim name who ran as a Democratic Socialist, refused to abandon his principles and values, especially when it came to defending Palestinians, stood up for workers and tenants, and promised to take on the 1%. He ran a brilliant and creative campaign that relied on diverse outreach, grassroots organizing from the bottom up, and engaged a broad platform of influencers and media personalities.
Instead of jumping on the Mamdani bandwagon and meeting the base where it’s at, the Democratic establishment unleashed all of their firepower and money to destroy Mamdani and elevate corrupt predator Andrew Cuomo. In the past two weeks, the DNC brought out its heavy hitters to weaken Mamdani. This includes Bill Clinton, Rep. Clyburn, Lawrence Summers, Michael Bloomberg, and an absurd amount of Wall Street bro money. Cuomo’s campaign and some of his allies doubled down on some of the most nakedly racist and Islamophobic messaging to give Cuomo the edge. They are still comparing Mamdani to the 9-11 terrorists, global jihadists, Hamas, and even darkening his skin.
This time, racism lost and got Mamdani’d.
