Following the Supreme Court’s recent disastrous decision to gut the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965, Republicans across the South have jumped on the opportunity to redraw their maps to disenfranchise their Black voters. Just look at Tennessee’s Republican majority shamelessly dividing the state’s sole Black majority district with a new Congressional map.
Jim Crow never left. It was simply rebooted in the 21st century as MAGA. The Klan has removed its hoods in favor of MAGA flags and uses social media and cable news instead of dog whistles.
All of this is shocking, but none of it should be surprising if you’ve been paying attention to Trump’s rhetoric and policies over the past decade. He has merely supercharged the GOP’s Southern Strategy and decided to stop being coy about its white nationalist agenda.
Trump represents the three major sins of America: capitalism, racism, and misogyny. He is, ultimately, the inevitable end product of a nation that has refused to confront and uproot its sins. Those sins are the building blocks of many of our institutions that have served to oppress the masses while profiting the elites, otherwise known as The Epstein Class. The modern-day Robber Barons are the tech bros who sat in the front seat of Trump’s inauguration and are gobbling up our resources, land, votes, data, and media companies. If given a choice between reforming a system that has increased income inequality and locked out generations of Americans, or burning everything down, they’ve chosen to buy flamethrowers.
Instead of paying taxes, they’ll spend hundreds of millions to buy up Republican and Democratic politicians. The big club will remain committed to its tax cuts, its insatiable appetites, its forever wars, and its support for Israel. Larry Ellison, one of the richest men on Earth and co-founder of Oracle, is the single largest donor to the Friends of Israel. He also bought TikTok and, along with his nepo baby son, now controls Paramount, CBS, and will soon own CNN, HBO, and Warner Bros.
Oh, yeah, he’s also a massive supporter of Trump and Netanyahu.
How can we achieve systemic change when so many Democratic frontrunners continue taking money from these very same billionaires and broligarchs who support authoritarian regimes? How can we have transformative politics when these elected officials remain incentivized to the restoration of a corrupt establishment?
