Katie Phang is all out of f***s.
I first met the former prosecutor, legal ace, and talk show host during our MSNBC days when we were in NYC for our brutally early weekend appearances.
Based on our conversations, I would’ve pegged Katie as a centerish pundit who loathed Donald Trump and MAGA but was nonetheless always civil and professional on air.
Well, that was nearly seven years ago.
Since then, Trump has incited a violent insurrection, pardoned those insurrectionists, normalized criminality and cruelty, unleashed the military and national guard against U.S. citizens, kidnapped brown immigrants, and made a mockery of the Constitution.
Blonde Reek, Pam Bondi, is helping his authoritarian ambition by federalizing Washington D.C.’s police officers and terrorizing the nation’s capital. However, she is perfectly fine with sending pedophile Ghislaine Maxwell to a cushy, minimum security camp in Texas. Bondi also ordered the DEA administrator to be D.C.’s “Emergency Police Commissioner” and wants local police to help Stephen Miller’s Gestapo to aid in immigration enforcement. Thankfully, D.C. A.G. Schwalb and Mayor Bowser told D.C.’s police that Bondi’s order was “unlawful” and that they wouldn’t comply.
It seems Democrats are FINALLY realizing they can’t bring a memo to a knife fight. When MAGA goes low, you don’t go high. You take them out by their knees. Thankfully, Governor Newsom of California is realizing there’s no negotiating or playing nice with fascists. He announced a special election to counter the Texas GOP’s efforts to gerrymander and steal seats. Democratic Governors all across the country have to play hardball from here on out. Every single American has to be ten toes down against fascism and do their part to resist MAGA’s agenda.
Katie Phang joined me today, fired up and pissed off. I echo her resolve not to cater to MAGA’s bad faith victimhood, endless grievances, or “economic anxiety.” Those days are long gone.
The caravan, with the majority of Americans, must move forward.
