Disgraced, former politician Andrew Cuomo and the broligarchy sought to win over New York’s Jewish voters by pandering to one of the ugliest and shameful Islamophobic political campaigns in recent history. The tip of the spear was unfair and false allegations of anti-semitism that created a bigoted double standard for Zohran Mamdani, who was repeatedly asked to condemn slogans and chants he had never used.
In the past three weeks, this blitzkrieg campaign of hate, funded by billionaires and, in part, encouraged by the Democratic leadership, failed to defeat Mamdani. Unfortunately, some Jewish American institutions, such as the Anti-Defamation League, remain undeterred in their singular goal to crush pro-Palestinian allies and protect Israel, which has become a world pariah due to its genocide and occupation of Palestinians. In a self-defeating effort, the ADL and pro-Israel Jewish MAGA voters would rather align with neo-Nazis, white Christian nationalists, and actual anti-semites like Elon Musk than a multicultural coalition, which includes many Jews, who came out in record numbers to elect Mamdani.
However, major fissures are now appearing, and the most unlikely of individuals, such as MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, are pushing back. On his Morning Joe show, Scarborough challenged ADL CEO Greenblatt’s smearing and characterization of Mamdani. Recently, Democrat Seth Moulton announced he would no longer take money from AIPAC. A majority of Democratic Senators voted to stop sending arms to Israel. Reps. Thomas Massie and MTG are now openly critical of US support of Israel and say it violates Trump’s “America First” promise. Young people around the world, radicalized by the genocide they’ve seen on their phones, are firmly against Israel’s occupation and in support of Palestinians.
Still, the ADL and AIPAC want the world to believe that they, and they alone, are the representatives of the Jewish majority and their definition of anti-semitism, which now mostly includes legitimate critique of Israel, should be embraced and accepted. As they attack liberals, students, and former allies, they remain complicit in the accelerated radicalization of MAGA, which is openly promoting anti-semitic conspiracies. None of this is good for Israel, Palestinians, Jews, Muslims, Arabs, or the United States, but that hasn’t stopped the ADL from doubling down on its efforts. They are offering their face to the Face Eating Leopard Party and are willing to throw us to the hungry horde as well.

Jewish American scholar Debra Shushan, a Senior Resident Affiliate at Georgetown Center for Jewish Civilization and editor of The Debrief Substack, joins me to discuss how the ADL now represents a dangerous and deluded pro-Israel movement that will only harm Jews, why so many young Jews voted for Mamdani, and the importance of showing a united Jewish and Muslim alliance against fascists, neo-nazis, and hatemongers.
