The double standards are infuriating.
It’s almost as if America is run by FIFA, the world’s most shamelessly corrupt institution that is openly rigging the game for whoever pays them the most money. Instead of Gianni Infantino, we have Donald Trump and the right-wing broligarchy that is gobbling up and capturing our media and political institutions.
It’s the upside down, and every day is another chapter in our reboot of The Emperor’s New Clothes.
Just imagine for a moment what would happen in this insane country if, say, Joe Biden were to fall asleep during the Knicks game, America’s 250th celebration, the Pope’s funeral, and a public meeting with Erdogan? What would happen if he had troubling bruises on both arms and his neck? What would happen if he were to say “Tic Tac” instead of Tik Tok and claim that the Islamic Republic of Japan had fired missiles?
We know because Fox, right-wing media, and allegedly “liberal media” institutions such as NYT and CNN ran non-stop stories about “Sleepy Joe.” Well, Trump has literally done everything I mentioned, and we just go along as if everything is normal. Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell appears to be straight-up brain-dead, and Republicans are alleging they are having 20-minute conversations with a corpse. What would Republicans do if the shoe was on the other foot?
It’s all projection all the time, and our establishment continues to play along.
