Horrified by the extremists around him and their utter lack of fidelity to the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution, Taylor wrote a now-famous op-ed in the NYT under “Anonymous,” which became the basis of a book. After he came out publicly, the Trump Administration has targeted him in a ruthless campaign of retribution meant to silence and intimidate all future critics and dissenters. Even though Trump is fine pardoning violent insurrectionists and money launderers like CZ, he finds time to sign an Executive Order accusing Taylor and Chris Krebs, who verified the 2020 elections confirming Biden’s win, of committing treason.
Thankfully, Taylor refuses to bend the knee or fade away.
Earlier this week, Taylor and friends launched DEFIANCE (defiance.org) as “a club for courageous Americans — people willing to take peaceful, lawful, defiant action to defend democracy from a wannabe dictator.” They even recruited Robert DeNiro for their initial launch video, encouraging everyday Americans to link up with organizations and community leaders committed to peaceful, lawful demonstrations and strategies to protect our freedoms and democracy from Trump, MAGA, and the broligarchy.
RepresentUS is an official partner that has launched the Congressional Courage Campaign that urges elected officials to hold the Trump Administration accountable. Democracy Defenders Fund (DDF) is also on board, using the power of the law to defend against authoritarianism and political retribution.
