I agree with former host and correspondent Scott Pelley, who was fired yesterday by new, incompetent management, that Bari Weiss “murdered” you.
The fall continues from Pelley’s Tuesday night firing that occurred a day after a contentious meeting between Pelley and newly installed Reek Nick Bilton, a tech journalist who is thoroughly unqualified for the job but was brought in as a “Yes Man” and to provide cover for Queen Hack Bari Weiss.
In his parting shot, Pelley accused the new leadership of “incompetence and unprofessionalism” and alleged they “instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified.” This is what happened with former Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi’s story on the foreign CECOT prison, which was temporarily shelved after Weiss insisted the piece include an interview with Stephen Miller. Alfonsi’s contract was not renewed. Anderson Cooper also left after his piece debunking the South African “white genocide” conspiracy was heavily edited by Weiss.
It bears reminding that Paramount, which owns CBS News, merged with Skydance only after Trump was bribed to the tune of $16 million and promised the scalp of Stephen Colbert, who was also fired from his top-rated late-night talk show. David Ellison, the nepo baby son of Larry Ellison, who made his money through Oracle, then brought in Weiss to purge “the woke” agenda and implement the pro-Israel, pro-billionaire agenda that is aligned with his interest. Larry Ellison, the world’s largest private donor to the Friends of the IDF, then went and purchased Tik Tok, which establishment hacks accuse of radicalizing young people against Israel. (Not, you know, the genocide and stuff, but I digress.) Next, the Ellisons are set to gobble up CNN and Warner Bros. Studios.
This is what happens in authoritarian regimes. This is North Korea and Russia territory. The regime’s enemies and critics are silenced, censored, or disappeared. It’s propaganda 24-7. It’s the rewriting of history and reshaping of public consciousness to favor the whims and desires of Trump and his billionaire ruling class.
You can’t play footsie with fascists. You have to dismantle them.
