“We’re fucked.”
That’s the blunt, sober assessment of Dr. MarkAlain Déry, an infectious disease physician from New Orleans who has spent his entire career helping marginalized communities endure and recover from epidemics, disasters, and trauma.
Dr. Dery believes Americans must hear the tough truth about MAGA’s deliberate dismantling of our public health infrastructure. Denial is no longer an option, and even though anger and depression are acceptable, they can’t lead to apathy and inaction.
Instead, Dr. Dery joined me to explain how Americans can keep themselves and their families safe as RFK Jr. continues purging the CDC and National Institute of Health of qualified scientists and doctors and replacing them with dangerous, reckless cranks who spout debunked anti-vaxx conspiracies. RFK’s forthcoming “autism report” is going to suggest that pregnant women using Tylenol causes autism.
That’s where we are now, folks. This is beyond Idiocracy.
Republicans, like Senator Cassidy, a doctor, have known all along that RFK JR. is literally the worst, least qualified person to head our Health and Human Services Department. Still, they don’t care because they belong to a pro-death cult. Cassidy grilled RFK Jr’s anti-vaxx positions at a Senate Hearing earlier this week, but he had no problem voting for him as vaccine hesitation was rising among Republican voters. In turn, this has led to a massive resurgence in measles. Florida has decided to lead the nation in killing children by announcing that the state will no longer require vaccine mandates. The Trump Administration has also killed a $700 million contract with Moderna to develop a bird flu vaccine.
Dr. Dery warns that the damage done is already generational and portends a viral collapse. Still, he believes there are steps Americans can take to protect themselves and their local communities.
