White supremacy remains undefeated when it comes to incompetence and self-destruction.
I give you America, 2025, under the reign of Donald Trump, where the military and National Guard are being deployed to help masked ICE agents terrorize innocent communities in L.A. instead of defending and protecting the country. In the nation’s capital, tanks are rolling down the street to prepare for a wasteful military parade being conducted to placate the fickle ego of an aging, decrepit vulgarian who can’t bother to read security briefings or Executive Orders because he’s too busy grifting and golfing. Since we live in the dumbest timeline imaginable, the Marines in L.A. just detained a man who took a wrong turn while heading to the VA. Of course, he was a Black man and an Army vet, because this is America.
“My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier,” Trump said in his January inaugural address. Meanwhile, the Middle East is burning because another corrupt, egomaniacal ruler, Netanyahu, decided to unilaterally strike Iran ahead of planned negotiations between the United States and Iran. Gaza remains in ruins as Israel continues its horrific genocide of Palestinians. Ukraine is still repelling a brutal Russian invasion. Economically, our allies are turning against us because Trump’s trade war is a disaster that has yielded zero deals, and Moody's has downgraded the U.S. credit rating. Tourism is down because bad news spreads fast, and the U.S. is bound to lose billions of dollars; however, measles and the prices of eggs are up.
Trump’s attack on immigrants, scientists, and universities is leading to a major brain drain as the best and brightest are fleeing America and being courted by China, Japan, and Europe to spearhead the latest advances in medicine and AI. Government agencies and regulations are being gutted, which means fewer jobs and benefits for workers and fewer protections for Americans who are about to enter hurricane season, not knowing if Trump will allow FEMA to help them.
Also, good luck trying to escape, considering our airports are no longer safe and reliable, and planes are dropping from the sky and colliding at record rates. Our infrastructure is also being dismantled, along with public schools, but at least private prisons are booming to house the next generation of poor, drug-addicted criminals whose future and savings were stolen by billionaires who received tax cuts at the expense of Medicaid and SNAP.
If this reads bleak, it’s because things are bad, and people are refusing to acknowledge the generational damage that Trump and Republicans have done to this country in a mere five months. Unfortunately, institutions and corporations have been complicit with their alleged objectivity, neutrality, and cowardice. Democratic leaders have still not met the moment, and it seems it’s up to the people to organize and lead the resistance.
In this Chai Talk, I spoke to national security and foreign policy analyst David Rothkopf, editor of the Need to Know Substack and founder of Deep State Radio, to dive into the immense damage the Trump regime has already done to America and what it will take for us to rebuild something more just, fair, and equitable for the next generation.
