26-year-old David Hogg has every right to be mad as hell and demand change from a corrupt system that almost killed him.
As a teenager, Hogg survived the horrific Parkland high school shooting that claimed 17 lives. In 2026, America has more guns than people, and gun violence remains the number one cause of death for children and teens. In addition to running for their lives, Hogg’s generation inherits a burning Earth, income inequality, the rise of global fascism, the backtracking of women’s rights, and a battered democracy holding on by a thread and MAGA’s self-destructive incompetence.
Kids deserve better.
We deserve better.
At the very least, we should have a true opposition party willing to boldly fight for reform and, on behalf of the majority. Unfortunately, we have a Democratic Party that remains hijacked by corporate interests, including AIPAC and AI money. They are willing to punch the left, which is the majority, and run towards Liz Cheney, Oracle, billionaires, Never Trump Republicans, and Netanyahu. They want restoration because change will threaten their power, access, and funding stream.
Hogg knows all of this because he saw it firsthand as the former vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. He was removed because he caused some good trouble after announcing his political action committee would fund primary challenges against ossified “centrist” Democratic incumbents.
Since then, Hogg has helped create Leaders We Deserve, a grassroots organization dedicated to electing young progressives to Congress and State Legislatures across the country. Hogg joins The Left Hook for the first time and brings the righteous fire.
