Why is The Establishment So Afraid of Abdul El-Sayed?

The progressive Democrat running for Senate in Michigan refuses to yield as he faces relentless attacks by MAGA, Democratic centrists, billionaires and pro-Israel supporters.
Abdul El-Sayed Wants to Be the First Pro-Palestine Michigan Senator

Why have corporate media, the Democratic establishment, “centrist” Democratic strategists, and pro-Israel propagandists spent the past month attacking Abdul El-Sayed?

What is so scary and controversial about the former physician and director of Wayne County, Michigan’s Department of Health, Human Services, and Veterans Services, that demands 24-7 coverage and outrage as America engages in an unwinnable war in Iran that has killed thousands of people?

Could it be his Arabic name and Muslim background? Possibly. We know that Islamophobia is completely mainstream and the last refuge for all bigots, whether MAGA or Bill Maher, considering there is no penalty or censure for Republicans who openly advocate killing 1.7 billion people.

But that’s only the icing on the cake.

Abdul El-Sayed’s unforgivable sins seem to be his consistent criticism of the billionaire class and his commitment to helping Michigan’s working class. He refuses to take money from corporations, has long held that ICE must be abolished, makes the case for Medicare For All, and refuses to back down from his criticism of Israel’s genocide. Along with his background and his one campaign stop with a controversial, progressive streamer, Hasan Piker is enough to make him the enemy of MAGA, pro-Israel hawks, and the Democratic donor class.

However, the attacks have backfired. Instead of neutralizing his campaign, they have emboldened it. The Michigan Democratic primary race is now a dead heat, with some polls showing El-Sayed edging ahead of Rep. Mallory McMorrow.

Abdul El-Sayed joined me to discuss his progressive campaign, the double standards, and the relentless corporate media campaign against him.
