Will America Finally Take Out The Trash?

In the final week ahead of the election, Danielle Moodie & I discuss why we're cautiously optimistic that America will finally take out the trash that is Donald Trump & move forward with Kamala Harris

One would assume that in an election between two candidates where one is a convicted criminal who cosplays as a garbage man and the other is a qualified Vice President and former prosecutor, it would be a slam dunk in favor of the woman who has never promised to “terminate the Constitution” or be a “dictator for a day.”

But this is the United States of Amnesia, folks!

We suffer from the perpetual disease of white supremacy. As such, the fateful consequences of our 2024 election will come down to a handful of swing states. That being said, I have been saying for more than 2 years that America has “misunderestimated” (that’s a deep cut for my fellow old heads) the righteous rage of women, who will come to the ballot box with a fury. Well, early voting results show that women are far outnumbering men in these swing states, and they include Republican women who are quietly defecting from their MAGA husbands and canceling their votes.

Early voting is breaking records, especially in places like Georgia, so naturally we see Donald Trump doubling down with bullshit claims of voter fraud and openly imagining violence against Liz Cheney. This is an addition to him threatening to unleash the military against U.S. citizens and, oh yeah, inciting a violent insurrection the last time he lost.

MAGA’s embrace of “the ultra-violence” was reflected in a disturbing video yesterday in which a white man assaulted Black poll workers in South Carolina because they were simply doing their job by asking him to take off his MAGA hat inside the station.

But this is how it’s always been in America. The most marginalized, Black women, step up to fight for a country that doesn’t love them back. However, this story has a potential plot twist. Women, of all ethnicities, aren’t playing around. Neither are Puerto Ricans, people of color, and young people.

Will it be enough to finally take out the trash that is Donald Trump?
