10 Senate Democrats led by Chuck Schumer exemplified the cowardice and fecklessness of Democratic leadership that is unable to fight fascism and remains complicit in its normalization.
Great post. I am so sick of the democrats. I can understand and sympathize with losing after you have given all you have. I can’t abide giving up without a fight. Today’s democratic senators are with some exceptions cowards. Some like Chris Murphy, Adam Schiff, Elizabeth Warren, Mark Kelly are the exceptions. The rest are, like the song from High Noon, craven cowards.
I agree completely. Over the last forty years we have witnessed the greatest heist in American history. The theft by the wealthy from the least of us. The oligarchs and the corporate rapists have stolen from the poor and middle classes to enrich themselves. It started with Ronald Reagan's attack on unions with and trickle down economics. I call it golden showers because they have been pissing on us and calling it rain.
It’s an abomination and it needs to end if we are to have a just society. I know I sound a broken record. But I remember when a kid graduating from high school could get a job at Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna, a suburb of Buffalo, and make a good living with one income. But our corporate overlords realized they could take more for themselves by demonizing the unions. Saint Ronnie started busting unions when he took on the air traffic controllers. It’s been down hill since then.
The new oligarchs won’t rest till they have it all. They are sick people with no principles. We have to take a stand together and say enough is enough.
We remember for 4/1 and remind others. We don’t stop as exhausting as it is. If we can we donate time, expertise and money. We remind others of what happened. We keep a file of Substacks like this to repost. On a different subject in messages with a friend tonight, I said we were The Kvetch Sisters with a Purpose. We all can be.
Also Ruben Gallego (D-AZ). He's begun holding Town Halls (both telephone and in-person)-which Republicans refuse to hold. He's even doing them in Red districts. Looks like he's not afraid to face constituents despite being the junior Senator.
I wonder what have the democrats actually done for the working, American middle class except platitudes, gas lighting and push ridiculous untenable policies that turn their constituencies into a literal Zimbabwe.
Interesting to watch in real time.
People didn’t vote for Trump bc they all of the sudden they liked him…they voted for Trump bc they did not like what the democrats are selling.
This is why the democrats have only a 21% national approval rate.
Booker is getting ready. Cory, do it!!’ We are behind you. I know. You don’t want to do anybody wrong. Hey Brother, you ain’t doing anything or anybody wrong. The time has come. The old man thinks he still has it. He is wrong. We are in a situation where extreme measures need to be taken against extreme attacks. It is what it is. We all know it. You do too. You & young go getters like AOC see it clearly. Do it & let’s save this country. Duty Calls!!’
Now that Tim Walz is speaking openly, is he considering .. what? That he, Bernie, AOC & Reuben are on it is good. My hope is David Hogg won’t be held back. Or the TN Justins, we old folks do not want to die believing it was left in reluctant hands.
This vote was gut wrenching to watch. I couldn’t believe my eyes, especially after Chuck railed for the past two weeks about being unified. It hurts my head to think of what just happened. I can barely write about it.
It is time! Look, I & many others appreciate the work put in years ago. But they, & all of us have to face facts! Old dogs, thank you! You did great. But we all have to let it go at the proper time. You guys have gone over the time line. A good Man or Woman has to face reality. Look, I am not 20 years old any more. There is no shame in that . But when you start lying to yourself, come on. Go into the stands & let the youngsters play. It is their time. You had yours. It is their time. When Nancy Pelosi calls you out, it is time. Yeah Chuck, talking about you. Save what little dignity left. Chuck, you aren’t helping us, you are hurting us!
(Cannot get past NYTimes paywall and cancelled all my MSM and Amazon Prime to support truth on Substacks) I like knowing the names of the cowards and, as with those who censured Green, we should blow up their phones and emails. Especially if they are from our state.
It is so infuriating how voters in other states like me (FL) donated multiple times to some campaigns only to have the representative start straying from what the party was supposed to stand for… Fetterman (lots of things), Allred (I heard he voted no at least but once he started making statements on the campaign trail distancing from supporting trans people…😡)
I read that the main thing Dems need to do is get a solid and resonating platform that counters MAGAs and preach, blast and drive it home CONSISTENTLY. I think Bernie and AOC and Crockett and Murphy have started but these others have no fear if they don’t “toe the line” like a MAGAt would.
I want the campuses, college and high school, to be ongoing scenes of protest about how the Rats Squared have foreclosed their futures. Parents would have to take a good look at that, and so would grandparents. Then point to the stodgy nazis running the country. The young, except for the indocrinated neo-nazis, have grown up with DEI and aren't as pearl-clutching and fear stricken as the elders about sharing the planet. I'll be with them on both campuses here. And I will take the walker I got when I had a knee replacement to provide bad optics if the police get on a scold.
He and his husband were politically smart to move to red and wealthy Traverse City where he can win hearts and minds and even influence the Upper Peninsula somewhat. Ann Arbor is already his to win. Wayne and Macomb, especially Macomb, will be tough for him. He's politically super savvy.
He can talk with red/MAGA voters if they get over their homophobia and the nastiness that will be thrown his way. He’s so smart and honest. Oh I’ve gotta have hope.

I would understand, though despise, cowardice.
This is openly choosing corporate donors and the stock market over vulnerable constituents and the fate of the country.
The question is whether we'll remember in 2 years, and vote accordingly.

Good point about whether we'll remember in 2026. Constant, incessant reminders until then are absolutely essential.
We remember for 4/1 and remind others. We don’t stop as exhausting as it is. If we can we donate time, expertise and money. We remind others of what happened. Wonder how much Elonia handing them

Schumer did a 180, so today, pi day is apropos. Tomorrow, the ides of March begins the shit show that this vote guarantees. 🙄

But all I see is doubling down.
Enjoy your irrelevance.
I'm pricing all weather tents
AOC primary Schumer? By God, yes!
Made me grin broadly! 💙💙💙💙

Tomorrow there is a march in Milwaukee called the Ides of March. They'll be hearing from us.
The Democrats that are bowing to the repubs agenda really need to be forced out by the strongest dems and our by primary!! No more playing nice
Two or three of them are not running again, Shaheen and Peters, and after this, perhaps not Schumer.
Now that Tim Walz is speaking openly, is he considering .. what? That he, Bernie, AOC & Reuben are on it is good. My hope is David Hogg won’t be held back. Or the TN Justins, we old folks do not want to die believing it was left in reluctant hands.
Run AOC.. run

Ashamed to say I am from NH where 2 of the feckless f's are from. I am thoroughly disgusted.
Who’s running for Shaheen’s seat?
Chuck Shumer and cronies need to exit the building

We will not elect those who support Fascism and who will not fight for Democracy!

🙌❤️
Gary Peters, MI, not running again.
We hope “Mayor Pete” for his seat!
He and his husband were politically smart to move to red and wealthy Traverse City where he can win hearts and minds and even influence the Upper Peninsula somewhat. Ann Arbor is already his to win. Wayne and Macomb, especially Macomb, will be tough for him. He's politically super savvy.

Of course :( I read that all the Repubs are acting like they are never going to HAVE to run again. Scary times.
Grrrrrrrrrr. Thank you!
