Biden has opportunities in many areas. I am hoping he will abandon his historical love for bipartisanship and kick ass.

Probably too much to hope that the current lineup won't be grandfathered (or mothered) in. We'd be rid of Thomas right off and Alito & Roberts within 6 years.

That is the only way I would be enthusiastic about term limits for Supreme Court justices: if it is retroactive. This problem is urgent. We can't tolerate another 20 years of this.

Agreed, but I have a feeling they'll propose a gradual expansion (a new member every 2 years) and term limits will apply only to justices going forward.

Mr. Ali,

Thank you for your column. I look forward to each one. I think President Biden should step down now and promote VP Harris so she can do all the tough things that Biden can't or won't do.

I really think we also need to expand it to 13 at a minimum. We should consider 26. Is crazy that appeal courts have more seats than the Supreme Court.

Why not go a step further: convene a new constitutional congress.

In my dreams: action by executive order? Yes, expansion necessary just by virtue of population growth. Thank you for not treating Biden's proposal with the "disdain" [? word choice] demonstrated by other commentators. Enough.
