DEI initiatives are back in the White House, except this time it's only for white candidates who are the most corrupt, mediocre, incompetent, compromised, and loyal to Donald Trump and his fickle ego.
Truth and Facts this evening,Waj, you've explained the Maga Republicans to a " T" here. More worse, the whole World is Watching this Debacle unfold in shock and dismay. Thank You for your insight and will reStack ASAP 🙏💯🙏
Well said! He’s really nominating himself over and over. Like these losers, he is a completely unqualified, amoral person. They get bonus points for being lawbreakers or disloyal to the US like he is. It’s pathetic.
The Trump administration is indeed a safe space for sexual predators. However can anyone tell me of a present day social or institutional space anywhere on earth that isn’t ? Thinking of how to teach my beautiful 14 year old ‘alternative’ daughter to safe negotiating growing up in this society without experiencing targeted harm.
I've always been a bit perturbed by the equation, in the hiring field, between DEI and Affirmative
Action. I always thought Affirmative Action in involved giving "points" to people for their race, all else being pretty much equal, in order to increase diversity. Isn't DEI more an outreach idea? Expand the pool to LOOK for POC who might be qualified and then judge them equally with everyone else being considered.
DEI also has an informational side, which means a commitment to teaching people, school kids and employees, that POC are humans, with the same pluses and minuses of anyone else, even those of the pinkish kind. THAT, of course, is anathema to racists and reason enough for them to oppose it.
But to call it "preferential" in hiring does seem to be yet another example of the demonizing of words ("woke" being another prime example.)
Wajahat. Excellent content, but terrible headline. "DEI" is not the same as "Affirmative Action." "DEI" for Trump nominees doesn't really make sense.
This may be pedantic (heck, given my poor prognostication about the election, it may even be - wrong), but given the importance put on the term "DEI" as a right-wing bogeyman, it doesn't make sense to abuse the term here.
A general problem in hiring - and in creating a more equitable America - is that people who do the hiring want people like themselves. In Trump's case, that means hiring (mostly white men) amoral grifters, con-men, sexual abusers and so forth. The point of Affirmative Action and DEI was to improve organizational performance by getting a wider range of points of view. It works really well, partly because there are people with huge talent that are overlooked because they don't fit the mold of "like me."
The opposite of affirmative is negative, so how about "Negative Action"? It's an appropriate term in so many ways for these actions & many more by Trump.

Unqualified misfits in a clown car. It’s all a disgrace. Thank you for this, Waj.
Thank you. All true enough and revoltingly grim.

Oh, by the way, Wajahat, I'm now drinking a chai in your honor. :)
These are all choices meant to destroy America. It would make a lot more sense if you look at them as all working for Putin.

Pro Tip: when it doesn't make sense it's called sarcasm.
"DEI" is still the wrong word. "Affirmative action" for white men makes sense,
