Maybe Jen Psaki should have done the interview. Welker was weak. It's almost like Trump interviewers fall under some kind of spell. Might as well have been Chuck Todd.
We need to dispense with this fantasy that some interviewer or debater would be able to paint him into a corner if only they had the right set of questions or talking points. Trump’s ability to stay on his bullshit is superhuman.

I also think it’s a fantasy that any of his supporters will experience any form of buyer’s remorse if their lives get worse as a result of his policies. Language is important: as of right now, Trump's cabinet nominees are still only nominees. They will only be "appointees" if Congress allows it. And so we have about 6 weeks remaining to deflate 47's reign by refusing to allow recess appointments of his nominees to happen. It's this basic responsibility that Congress owes us: to investigate each nominee through the full legal approval/disapproval process.

I think a lot of people are making the mistake of putting Trump in the same category us other, ('much smarter') fascists - such as Mussolini and Hitler. You say "the goal of fascists is to overwhelm and distract you to the point of exhaustion". I very much doubt that Trump is even aware of those types of tactics.
When he said that he didn't know anything about Project 2025, he was probably, (for once), telling the truth. His "goals" are much simpler: stay out of jail and enrich himself.
