My home state of California just declared a state of emergency due to the spread of bird flu among dairy cattle, and the U.S. is seeing its first severe human case. Meanwhile, people are still drinking “raw milk.” In other news, Senator Mitch McConnell had to emerge from the crypt to defend polio vaccines in 2024 because RFK Jr.’s advisor wanted the FDA to revoke approval of the vaccine that once saved McConnell’s life.
Speaking of RFK Jr, the man with brain worms with no medical background or training, has been tapped to lead the Health and Human Services. This massive $2 trillion federal government agency oversees programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. Its motto is "improving America's health, safety, and well-being.” Naturally, Trump has chosen an unqualified, dangerous, conspiracy theorist whose anti-vax advice to Samoa was in part responsible for a measles outbreak that killed 80 people, mostly children.
Undeterred, MAGA’s anti-science and pro-death movement wants to come after American children. Nearly all of Trump’s major cabinet picks seem to be chosen from a lineup of “The World’s Worst,” but not enough attention is being paid to the extremist, anti-life ideologies of the individuals he’s entrusting with our country’s health.
The U.S. is already suffering from a vaccine hesitancy crisis, disinformation, and one of the lowest life expectancies of any major, developed country. More people died of COVID-19 in the U.S. than any other country on Earth. We also have one of the most inefficient and costly healthcare systems and we lead the world in mass shootings and gun violence.
What could go wrong?
To answer that question, I invited Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding to connect the dots and break down why Trump’s picks will lead to far more deaths, mistrust in science, self-destructive conspiracies, and an increase in disease and sickness. Even though it’ll be a tough road ahead, Dr. Feigl-Ding also recommends how Americans can keep themselves, their families, and their local communities safe and healthy as the rest of the country decides to drink poisoned Kool-Aid.
Give us a listen.
