Republican Senators just passed the biggest wealth transfer, or theft, in U.S. history. By a narrow majority, the GOP is advancing Donald Trump’s billionaires’ bill that will add more than $3 trillion to the debt, gut Medicaid, increase energy prices, and add billions to ICE to create a police state. But at least the richest people on Earth will pay less taxes!
While this is happening, the number one priority for Democratic leadership was to spend the weekend smearing Zohran Mamdani, who won the mayoral primary with an astonishing 56% of the vote. During the campaign, millions were poured into elevating disgraced politician and sex predator Andrew Cuomo, who even got the last-second backing of Bill Clinton, Rep. Clyburn, and Lawrence Summers.
What’s so terrifying about Mamdani?
Is it his beard, brown skin, Muslim name, and the fact that he supports Palestinian rights? Well, that’s scary for many in the establishment, but that doesn’t quite explain the numerous nervous breakdowns we’ve witnessed on social media and cable news. It’s most likely because he is critical of billionaires, the oligarchy, and corporate influence in America. Much like AOC, he bucked the system and won big. Despite unleashing all their powers to destroy him, the billionaires and their cronies couldn’t defeat Mamdani in the primary.
American people are also waking up to the fact that the system is increasingly rigged against them and favors the richest, whose wealth has increased over the past 40 years while wages have remained stagnant. Donald Trump and Republicans have replaced their hoods with top hats and canes and don’t even bother hiding the greed and cruelty anymore.
However, progressive writer and activist David Sirota, editor of The Lever, believes billionaires influence too many Democrats as well through a rigged system that continues to benefit the few at the expense of the many. In order for there to be true change, we need the majority to rise up and demand reform instead of nostalgic restoration that upholds the antiquated and oppressive status quo.
