They cant. As they won’t stop selling out to conservatism at every single opportunity, stabbing progressives in the back. So a choice between republican and republican lite is just not palatable. Not to mention we get the same atrocious big money loving domestic policy and foreign policy from both corrupt political parties. You can change the decorations but it’s always the same stale cake.

Thanks for elaborating on these issues. Much appreciated!

Please forgive me if I just burst forth in ideas. (I’m a granny so I might not see the fruits, but your children and my grandchildren might.🙏)

“How do we tell THE STORY?”

You mentioned Brazil’s ability to resist. My mind exploded: Augusto Boal!

Theater of the Oppressed!!!

During the Biden phase of Covid, so many maga were dying while denying that they had covid. (My daughter is an Infectious Disease doc in Bergen County NJ) Denying as intubated!

How can we get through to this level of denial?

Physical Witness. “This is hot. This is cold.” “This is in. This is out.” Basic childhood skills.

But it’s the human interaction.

We cannot compete with the digital oceans, but we could start a movement to make “theater” physical witnesses to a story important.

Theater in NYC is an extension of … Marvel movies. For Tourists.

Real nitty gritty theater that makes ideas swirl happens not in Manhattan.

Community theaters won’t put on “The Dutchman” but they could lean into the central idea of Les Misérables!

Again, thank you for your important work 🙏

Yaaaaz!!! This. I have been trying to tell these stories to change the minds of the middle class people around me. And it has started working. And yes. I pay for my local paper and this substack. But the people working two shifts to stay poor don't have time or energy or desire to read the paper. Solidarity starts at home on the ground. We can organize people into resilient groups who support each other and build the political landscape we need from the ground up. Will be hosting a We are Worth Fighting for gathering in my home. But they didn't have one to do item for this gathering besides scheduling another one. I am not satisfied with that. We know what to do if we look to the civil rights movement. I am going to ask people to build and stock their emergency kits and plant fruits, vegetables, legumes, herbs. Then organize their neighbors to help in case of fire, snowstorm, hurricane, earthquake, car accident, emergency childcare, pay day loans, small business investment, etc. We can build villages. No one can stop us. And once we have a resilient village, what else can we do?

I'll be listening today, but great post. This is the real heart of the problem, and Democrats are accomplishing nothing by further alienating men, especially working class white men, and blaming literally anything and anyone else as the vast majority of us are genuinely struggling to eat. The extreme apathy is actually absurd, and as we have seen, it's rampant on both sides.

As a UPS employee I'll be doubling down on the fantastic work the Int'll Brotherhood of Teamsters does to provide us great union contracts and protections! We are working on organizing Amazon! This is the kind of existing organization we should be pushing to advocate for. The next election won't be won without some major intersectional organizing effort.

I think the message re billionaires is spot on. When I saw Kamala walking on stage, arm in arm with Oprah, in my beloved Philly, my heart sank a bit.

Oprah wasn't handed 400 million+millions in real estate by her rich Father. She worked her way out of poverty to become that PROUD woman of color that she is today, contributing to many causes that the poor endure. One of her causes was her time to help elect another PROUD woman of color that would've been an asset to our society, the middle-class, the poor & the downtrodden.

I agree, Janey.

I think voters chose misogyny and racism over joy and intelligence.

Thank you, Waj.

... and Oprah had her "moment" at the DNC in Chicago, a city with an obvious connection to her. Kamala also did a one-on-one interview with Oprah during the campaign. The optics matter. I think there is credence in working class people seeing that as an unbalanced "embrace" of the elites.
