No not yet. There may not be bombs going off but the programs he is cutting out like protections from programs that keep us from eating contaminated food, or research diseases, cancer research, immunization programs. People are going to die because he removed these and many other programs. Try to see what is ahead of us with all of his cuts. There is a good reason these programs were instituted to begin with.

The Government of Palestine has every tool necessary to end the Genocide. First tool is to summarily drop their official stated national goal of eradicating the State of Israel and killing every Jew. They also have the opportunity to sue for peace, just like every concoured nation, since they cannot protect their citizens.

There hasn't been an election in Gaza in almost 2 decades.

The populace has been under rigid occupation by Israel (which, by Netanyahu's own admission, funded Hamas to split opposition to the occupation).

The idea that deliberately impoverished people (with zero ability to control a government they didn't vote for) have the luxury, while under relentless bombardment, to "sue for peace" is simultaneously arrogant, ignorant, and disingenuous.

Michael, I agree. It is dependent on Palestine AND Israel. Both need moderates. Same with India and Pakistan. Etc. And as Americans who have an orange terrorist in charge, well....

I just read “The Message” by Ta-Nesihi Coates and was so stunned by his trip to Israel. He interviewed a number of Palestinians who told him what is really happening. Most tourists are only shown what the Israeli government wants them to see. What a tragedy!

I'm sorry, but how can you admire Tucker Carlson in any way, shape, or form? The man has no soul or principles at all.

gonna double-down and say I categorically disagree with Rula's take that lazy right-wing isolationist comedy bros like Joe Rogan deserve more credit than principled leftist activists in terms of calling for a divestment from Israel in protest of its genocide. Hell, even among the Good Ol' Boy comedy sphere, Bill Burr has expressed more articulate, empathy-based criticism of Israel than Rogan and his entourage who mostly are focused on how related policies affect their bank accounts.

I think what rogan, etc. understand is being LOUD. Those who aren't the extreme far-right need to get LOUD. We need to get together and get LOUD. There need to be several speakers at town halls. There needs to be a heck of a lot of concert events like Lolla...many stages or 1 stage but multiple musicians there protesting all of this ish....Israel vs. Palestine, India vs. Pakistan, trump, putin, xi, etc.

Oh, hell no. I'm not even arguing. I simply stated a fact. trump will allow genocide, in order to build a Gaza resort. It was crystal clear before the election & now we are living through the trump hellscape.

From I read, the conflict does not qualify as genocide. Hamas' charter is "death to Jewish people", Israel in turn does not make such assertions. They are hunting down jihadis, plain & simple.

That doesn’t explain why more than 45,000 palestinians have been killed, overwhelmingly civilians, since Oct 7th. Or why hospitals, refugee camps, churches and mosques have been bombed. Or why journalists and doctors and nurses and UN workers have been killed.

Of course, Waj is correct.

The foremost expert on the Holocaust (Israeli-born historian, Omar Bartov) has declared the massacre of Palestinians to be a genocide.

I'm fairly certain that Mr. Bartov's expertise massively outweighs the fact-free "vibes-based" comments on this thread.

Collateral damage. And mistakes of course. Humanity can not tolerate groups of people promising to annhiliate another. They must go on the offense. If Palestinian people refused to help hamas' it could be faster. The kill ratio of civilian/enemy is actually very low in terms of modern warfare.

There are high-ranking members of Israel's government & military who voice their desire & intention to wipe out Gazans. Same in Russia against Ukraine.

Go set feet in Gaza and you'll soon have a different perspective. Families are collecting their children in trash bags for Christ sake. This isn't collateral damage, it's targeted eradication.

If you think Jihadis are being eliminated your a fool. This homicidal massacre is making jihadis around the globe.

Sounds like what goes around comes around. 17 years of State orchestrated hate, authoritarian government without democracy or women's rights, and then Oct 7th? Oct 7th was a cynical move to stop Saudi-Israeli rapprochement. And it worked. Now the piper must be paid. What Israel is doing is a long over-due correction to remove a daily threat on its sovereign country's border.

I wrote to my Dem Congressional Delegation and Sen John Thune and Sen Schumer proposing stopping any arms shipments to Israel until 1000 trucks a day of food and medicine go into North and South Gaza daily for a month. I like Rula's idea of a total worldwide arms embargo on Israel.

You lost me at the title: "...Israel's Genocide of...".

What about stopping the genocide of Israel, which is the stated intention of hamas?

I ask you, if you were living in Israel and missiles had been randomly raining down on your country hoping to kill *anyone*, what would you do? Or perhaps you think Israel should not exist in the first place.

The underground army in gaza could have said, two years ago, "oh crap, we really blew it. we are returning the hostages and will sit down and talk. We are sorry for killing your babies and raping your women. We are better than that. Let's try to make peace and prosper together." I am confident the majority of Israelis would have voted in favour of that.

Please provide a link to the English version of the book when 1 can order it. I'm pro-Israel. I am NOT pro the extremists currently in charge of Israel, Russia, the US, and so forth. I am not pro-Hamas. I am not pro-Hezbollah, etc. At some point, humans need to figure out how to get along better. We need to find a way for Israel and Palestine to get along and have a 2 state solution. (Wishful thinking. Not sure it's realistic.) We need to stop funding all of the ethnic cleansing in general. It's not just Israel and Palestine.

Thank you for understanding 1 can support both countries without supporting the extremists in government. If you could only help me get through to some of the extreme far-right Ultra-Orthodox Jews who are pro-trump. I won't hold my breath on having that friend see the light of day.

I am also pro-Palestine. What many forget is that 1 can be BOTH pro-Israel AND pro-Palestine. It's being anti-current leadership of the 2. I am encouraged by some of the sports teams that mix Palestinian and Israeli kids and some of the arts programs that do the same. I wish there were more of those. I fear the larger genocide...not just Israel vs. Palestine. India vs. Pakistan. It's pooty and xi vs the rest of the world. That's what has to change.

So how CAN 1 stop the extremists in general?
