Hey Waj. I enjoy your musings and the shows you do with Danielle. I do have one minor quibble though. Stop apologizing for your “rants.” You’re speaking the truth, connecting the dots and getting important information out to the people. There’s nothing to be sorry about.
YOU ARE AN AMAZING AND EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT INDIVIDUAL! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE WAY YOU REPORTED THE MOST IMPORTANT WEEKLY NEWS. THANK YOU, MR. ALI! 👏👏👏👏
Slotkin was being political in voting to confirm Noem. MI is a swing state, and she was throwing a bone to the reds here. She rightly believes she has to be centrist to win and represent. Our other senator, Gary Peters is also a centrist and will be stepping down next year.
As for Cuomo, NY still has nostalgia for his father, Mario Cuomo, a good man by all accounts. NYers remember Andrew Cuomo's performance during Covid and they see that predators can and do win and nobody seems to care any more, so they're betting on his executive record. The Dems have learned a lesson from the magas: Radical candidates make for radical outcomes, mostly bad ones. We need change tempered with strategic restraint. For all of his flaws, Joe Biden was the man for the moment because he made sweeping changes on the quiet.
WOW!!!!! This was a dynamite, fast paced assessment of where we are people!!!!! Waj truly threaded the needle on so many of the unprecedented scenes we have been witnessing since rump took (bought, colluded w/Russia and/or flat out stole) office. Please forward to social media sites and to anyone willing to listen!!!!!
As a New Yorker who is, just this week, struggling with his ranked-choice primary ballot, I have to disagree about why so many Dems are -- and yes, it's disturbing -- rushing to Cuomo. I don't think it has anything to do with Mamdani's religion, skin color, or Democratic Socialist credentials. None of these things concern me, a white Jewish hetero cis-male liberal living in the heart of Bed-Stuy. Many of my neighbors like Zohran, he has plenty of people -- young and not-so-young -- out canvassing, and that's admirable, as is his stated platform.
Cuomo, for all his many faults, is an able executive. A bully at times, for sure, and a predator who should take the hint and leave public life. Cuomo's greatest strength, I think, is the contrast with the feckless and incompetent Eric Adams -- not to mention the feckless and incompetent Donald Trump.
What gives me pause about Mamdani is the difficulty of governing New York City: a relatively untested 33-year-old with with thin legislative and no executive experience doesn't look like a good risk. His progressive values align with mine, and he's certainly attractive and articulate -- Cuomo at 33 was all of those things, too.
I don't like Cuomo, and I'd be happy with any of the Democratic challengers to Eric Adams. Mamdani will be on my ballot, ahead of Cuomo but not first. But please, let's not assume racist motivation where simpler explanations suffice. We're better than that.
Thank you for your honesty and insights Waj!! You are working really hard. Please have a nice vacation with your family. We will be here when you get back. I’m so happy Mahmoud was released!

Thanks Waj! As a night owl, I like these late night pep talks. Take it easy and unwind during your vacation. Be careful and be safe.
Elissa Slotkin is sketchy tho. I never liked her plus she voted to confirm Kristi Noam and likely others. She needs to be voted out.
