So glad Biden is doing this! Now he should do death row and send all the frozen Russian money to Ukraine, among many other things.

Yup. He can still do a lot.

I'm glad Joe's going to pardon Hunter. I'm fed up with the piddling patient polite treatment of these MAGA thugs. I say, undo as much of their crookdom as you can, while you can, Joe!

He has some time left to go medieval on MAGA. Release everything, foreign conspirators, criminal activity. It’s there. Back channel to GOP:”Nothing personal, this man is corrupted and unfit and you know it, This is your presidency after he goes.”

Yes, release to the public all information gleaned from investigations of Trump's treasonous crimes. Hopefully including his secret calls with Putin.

Especially the actual evidence of Russian collusion. Just because it was never prosecuted doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Expand full comment

For sure there was a lot of collusion with Russia, from his 2016 campaign ongoing until now. The negligence of our justice system & intelligence for not investigating this is unforgivable!

I think this was the right move by Biden. I'd like to see him do more. How about Leonard Peltier??

It'd be the right thing to do but I don't think he will.

Thank you...the entire political and corporate owned news media are hypocrites and cowards who not cower since that nothing piece of shit will soon be president...trump is NOT my president! Good for Biden!

He could only become president by cheating, which he did, with Putin's help all 3 times, & now also Musk's help, & likely the assistance of Thiel, Mercer, Murdoch, etc.

Just had dinner with a relative who believes every single Republican talking point. Hunter Biden didn't deserve what he was charged with. Hope Biden pardons everyone who is in federal custody on non-violent drug charges. They don't deserve what they were sentenced to and didn't have the rich lawyers to get them off.

I was relieved that Joe pardoned his son. It was right, correct, and loving.

Now let's do FBI checks on the Trump announced appointees and give it to the Senate Ds

I'm so happy that President Biden is doing this. This prosecution of Hunter was a travesty from beginning to end. I wish Biden would take the gloves off for the rest of his tenure. There's so much more that needs doing before he leaves. I'm just afraid the orange bastard and his cohorts will go after Hunter again after the inauguration. If so, would double jeopardy apply? Congratulations to Hunter!

I think, going by the Constitution, anyway, which Republicans keep ignoring or defying, that Hunter cannot be tried on the same crime. He probably could on a different crime, so if there is something else, unless Joe's pardon of him covers that, too, then he could be vulnerable to more charges & persecution, & may be, anyway, since Trump cares nothing about the Constitution or rule of law. In fact, Trump is proudly defiant of both, & regularly contravenes both & rewards others who do the same.

I like the idea of pardoning any journalist everywhere who ever used the term Russia or Putin in any story. Even those on Fox. Just everyone. Let Ka$h twist in the wind finding an espionage act claim then.

I absolutely agree -- very happy to see Biden do this.

But I expect the Patel FBI and the Bondi Justice department will have squads of investigators trying to bring charges against the entire Biden family - as well as the Clintons, the Obamas, the Harris- Emhoffs, and Biden's entire cabinet. It is going to be terrible.

Journalists will be in the crosshairs, too, like Reich, Hartmann, his niece, Qasim, possibly even Wajahat. We should be grateful for their honesty, integrity & courage to speak out.

Just want to remind everybody that 47 can't "appoint" these nominees all on his own. Congress must be involved, either by doing the proper approval process or shirking their duty by going into recess to allow recess appointments. Either way, we have a voice and we must stop these nominations from being approved. Time to rise up and say no! I've been collecting resources to take action. If you know of additional resources or actions planned, tag me and I'll add them to the list. I live in Ohio so my senators are lame duck and my rep is basically useless, but I'm still demanding their attention on this. https://bit.ly/StopRecessAppts

Send your opinions on the nominees to your incoming when the rep is lame duck because the incoming are already thinking about what to do to handle them and still keep their seats and power. Let them know they need to object to the obviously objectionable.

Expand full comment

Lame duck Republican congressmen are often the ones most likely to go against Republican orthodoxy, because they no longer have to worry about repercussions for going against the grain, so probably it's best to message both incoming & outgoing. just to cover all bases. In fact, it is said that in private, many Republicans in Congress despise Trump, but they dare not vote against him for fear that he'll take retribution against them.

Expand full comment

True, but how much influence can the lame duck congressmen and women have over voting on nominations since that won't happen until the next session of congress? The current ones who won't be returning would be the ones to contact regarding support for efforts to shore up guardrails though.

Seriously, the only grounds the Repubs have for outrage would be if Hunter didn't pay Joe Biden for the pardon, depressing the price for their own next series of sales.

I agree, and up next, commute Leonard Peltier’s sentence and send him home, and commute federal death row, and so much more.

Yes, Peltier has been in prison way too long for some dubious charges.

Funny I did write the WH suggesting President Biden pardon his son.

I also suggested he have the FBI run background checks on EVERYONE in tbe new administration and release those reports to all of congress.

They and we the people deserve to know who’s running our government.
