So Much For Lowering The Price of Eggs: The MAGA Agenda Remains Committed to Cruelty Instead of Economic Success

Eggs might be expensive forever. Oranges are rotting and construction sites are barren. Grocery prices haven't gone down. But, even as they're starving, MAGA will at least get to own the libs.

“The price of eggs” is the remake of “economic anxiety,” which corporate America and establishment pundits sold us as the primary motivator for a majority of white voters siding with Donald Trump.

This zombie narrative even helped JD Vance, a wealthy, privileged elite, who was able to mainstream HillBilly Elegy and propel himself to becoming Donald Trump’s Vice President. It didn’t matter that writers who lived in Appalachia and didn’t make their money on Wall Street like Vance kept calling out his book for being inauthentic nonsense that is simply laundering right-wing talking points. As VP, Vance can comfortably lie and deflect on Face the Nation when asked how Trump’s cruel and vindictive Executive Orders have helped the economy and brought down the price of groceries. He engaged in a pivot, but why bother? He should have echoed his boss, Donald, and replied, “I don’t care.”

Similarly, those in power still don’t care about studies that repeatedly show that the main, although not exclusive, reason for Trump’s victory was due to “cultural anxiety.” To put it in simple terms: it’s racism, cruelty, and bigotry fueled by 24-7 right-wing misinformation that preys on fear, loathing, and ignorance.

If it isn’t Haitian immigrants eating pets, it’s a caravan of Mexicans. If it isn’t Muslims implementing Sharia, it’s undocumented criminals. If it isn’t transgender people yelling “Boo” in restrooms, it’s wokeness and DEI. It’s an endless assembly line of bogeymen manufactured by right-wing media and Republicans to shore up white supremacy and sandbag against the present and future of America which is, and always has been, diverse and multicultural. The only difference is that in the past 50 years, the rest of us, who were never seen as protagonists of the American narrative, finally got a few plum-speaking parts. Well, MAGA can’t have that. To those in power, equality is oppression. They’d rather burn down the entire neighborhood, including themselves, than share a house with the rest of us.

White supremacy has always been violent and self-destructive. It’s only been a week into Trump’s presidency and the price of eggs might be expensive forever! Oh, yeah, we also have the first outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N9 bird flu in poultry which means thousands of chickens will now have to be killed in addition to the hundreds of thousands that have already been culled since the summer. But, don’t worry, because RFK Jr. is going to be our next Director of HHS, and he doesn’t believe in vaccines. Also, the CDC was informed today that it will no longer be working with the World Health Organization, which means America is not only committed to killing itself but also bringing the world down with it.

I guess we’re Making Death Great Again. The Grim Reaper should donate to MAGA.

Instead of helping the economy, which he doesn’t care about, Trump has spent the past week attacking immigrants, especially the undocumented who do all the labor that no white person or middle-class person will ever do in this country even if they were starving to death. ICE now has to meet quotas and as such they will end up detaining citizens who happen to look like “trouble,” such as the US Veteran they accidentally picked up in a New Jersey raid.

Well, word travels fast. 75% of the workforce didn’t show up in Bakersfield during the height of citrus harvesting. The California city is located in Kern County, which is one of the top three agricultural counties in the nation. The result is acres of unpicked oranges that are literally rotting in the sun. What a perfect metaphor for Trump and MAGA’s corrosive leadership. Similar scenes have been recorded at construction sites where the labor, which is mostly undocumented, didn’t show up to work as a result of these raids and targeting of immigrants.

What do you think will happen to our local and national economy if this continues? Who will do the essential labor of picking fruits and vegetables, working on construction projects and in restaurants, and helping our elderly and our children for minimal wages? It ain’t Republican voters, that’s for sure. (Whoopsie!)

But, fret not, there’s always AI! The broligarchy has lined up to supplicate Donald Trump and they all contributed millions to his election. Surely, these brilliant, gifted, talented billionaires will save humanity and the Earth! In return, they will receive lucrative contracts such as Trump pouring $500 billion into Stargate, a private sector investment to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. Well, China just announced DeepSeek, an AI start-up, that just created a powerful AI model that rivals ChatGPT for less than $6 million. The U.S. stock market has been in turmoil all day as a result of the news. Alas, that $500 billion could have helped American families, our education system, and child care, but instead it’s going to be wasted on the wealthiest, dumbest people on Earth who love government subsidies and tax cuts but hate government spending on Trump voters whom Musk believes are “contemptible fools” and “retards.”

It seems America is determined to learn the hard way, and even if they endure and barely survive immense suffering, most of MAGA still won’t learn. It’s all about “owning the libs.” It’s about inflicting cruelty and punishment on all their imagined enemies. It’s about temporarily feeling good even as they’re killing themselves, and the rest of us, in the long run. They’re like a vengeful Khan from Star Trek 2 who are so committed to revenge that with their dying breath, they’d spit, “From hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee."

Unfortunately, their last meal most likely won’t be an omelet. Like the rest of us, they won’t be able to afford eggs in this rotting Trump economy.
