I have been trying to find a phone number for the DNC. I want to call them to say I stand 100% with DAVID and Malcolm. I am sick of the corporate Dems always trying ti capture the elusive centrist vote. We need to showcase and be proud of progressive values. I wish

the WFP (working family party) needs to break off. They will get a lot of people that stayed at home in this past election. We don’t need to go to the center, we need to show what we stand for. Progressive values and a better world.

The democratic establishment is not overwhelmed, weak, ineffectual, cowards or bad negotiators. They are complicit. They are in complete alignment with the status quo and Imperialism, Capitalism, Colonialism and militarism. The white moderates are despicable who support wall street and billionaires and don't want their capital disrupted. We need a different party.

Martine Luther King Jr. said this was the worst type of American. The white complicit Dem was worse than the Republican who we know exactly who they are.

So much has been revealed over these last many years. Frank Zappa, the iconic musician said that when the veneer of "liberty, freedom and justice" don't serve the elites any more they will "show us the brick wall". Well...they are showing us the brick wall! And yes, you are psychic;)

The great sages turn out to be the Zappa's, Carlin's, and science fiction authors who told us long before! Listened to Anand Giriharadas talk with Sen Sheldon Whitehouse this morning (I thought he was one of the good guys, apparently I was wrong!) but his stonewalling and inability to answer a simple cogent question was exactly the problem and a perfect example of that brick wall they refuse to tear down! The old white guys refuse to give up their power so we have to figure out ways to go over and around that wall!

Exactly Amy!!! On all of it. I didn't see the interview, but Whitehouse was talking about the billionaires years ago. So sad. We need democrats who speak truth and aren't afraid. It is one of the things the right loves about trump. He shows who he is in all his wretchedness. I hope we cast out all the old white guys....as a white guy who can't stand white supremacy. White supremacy, Imperialism and Capitalism all go together...as I like to say, The Confederacy concedes nothing.

What a tremendous dialogue! I agree with both of you! What an appalling embarrassment Debbie Dingle is! It’s way beyond time for the Democratic Party to go younger and more diverse, & more progressive. David Hogg & Malcom Kenyatta, along with AOC, Jasmine Crockett and Maxwell Frost are the future. It’s time to give them and others with a better vision for the American people the reins now! We’re losing valuable time!

Wasn't Dingell related to John Dingell who was at one point the oldest and longest serving politician in Congress, before he died? We are so fundamentally broken because we don't have term limits and we have geriatric politicians who do not understand how the modern world functions

I follow Booker, Pritzker, AOC, Jasmine, Murphy, Van Hollen, Bernie (who I’ve never followed before) and others who are willing to take on Trump and MAGA without strategizing or measuring the political winds or watching focus groups. The others don’t have my attention and won’t have my support. It’s not us v them or as you’re framing it Progressives v Establishment. Outside of corporate media (and maybe, in it) Jasmine and AOC are far better know than Dingall and Connolly. So stop fighting your favorite battle and support and amplify those who are leading.

I don’t care whether he is, or isn’t “progressive” or if he is or isn’t “old school”.

That’s the point of what I said. He has, effectively, spoken and lead in opposition to Trump.

Richard we're on the same page. I'm not sure you got what Danielle and Waj were saying. Their whole argument is about Establishment Dems. I like your whole list except Booker. He's an Establishment guy and is a good speaker but he votes against progressives and new ways of doing things. He's a Pelosi Jeffries guy. We need to move on! He's not doing enough. Just talking for hours isn't going to help. He takes big money from his Oligarch donors. Sorry.

You are so correct. Your guy Cory Booker just voted to confirm despicable criminal Jared Kushner’s Dad for an ambassadorship. The only Dem to do so. They’re old buddies and gives him money for his campaigns. It takes one to know one. I will not be supporting Booker that’s for sure. But you do you Richard!

This is a ridiculous premise - isn’t it. Have you ever seen anything but a failed state have the endemic level of corruption we have. Definitionally this means that normal course opposition won’t work just like it hasn’t worked in any other failed state. The only thing that works is We The People in the streets fighting for our nation and democracy.

But, we're not in the streets fighting for "our nation and democracy".

That was great. The Democratic establishment is useless. They've got to be replaced. A lot of people have just had their jobs for too long. They get repetitive. They don't think, they just have habits (which they're quite happy with). Dingell falling asleep! What a horrible but pitch perfect metaphor for the Dems establishment. Thank you both. Great show.

I watched most of the live discussion, but had to leave for work and missed the end. I was feeling exceedingly frustrated by the amount of postmortem bitching about the Dem party/the 2024 election, and wondering what the actual f&$k people think we can do to build a new party in the very short window of time we have for effectively pushing back on the current corrupt, evil, fascist regime? Everyone who spoke had legitimate beef with the Dems, and made good points about the need for change, but right now it seems like our time might be better spent coming up with action plans that will stave off autocracy in the short term, if it’s not already too late. We can build a better party after we get rid of the current 💩show. And Danielle really lost me with her “what Trump did right…” UGH. As inept and ineffectual as the repugs are, and as propaganda-driven as their lying messaging is, the party does work as a collective and their voters get it, too. All Dems do is bicker and stagnate, and it appears the party has lost its voters in this moment when we need solidarity the most. It’s ALARMING.

I love Waj and The Left Hook, and I appreciate the space to have incendiary conversations. I’m super worried about the imminent reality we will all be facing if the regime isn’t checked soon. We will need each other to get thru and I hope we can look beyond our disagreements and unite around the common cause of hanging on to democracy by our fingernails.

Support downballot candidates. Donate to groups like "Run For Something" and "Leaders We Deserve", who train candidates for the thousands of downballot offices across the country.

The Democratic party can only be rebuilt from the bottom up. The rot is too far gone.

A Democratic mayoral candidate just unseated a rabidly transphobic GOP incumbent.

It can be done, if people support, and vote, in every downballot election, every special election.
