Spot on analysis, Waj. Power and influence from the dinosaurs is a very hard thing to relinquish. We need the youngbloods now more than ever. The Democratic party old guard status quo seems so stale and uninspiring. We need AOC, Crockett, Raskin and others to shake our party back to life.

Yep, those are probably my 3 favorite people in the House. All very inspiring.

I would also include Moskowitz with that trio.

I like the way Moskowitz stands up to Republicans, engaging them with irony & humor -- he's quite clever, but he often votes against progressive legislation & for corporate interests, unlike the 3 I mentioned.

We needed AOC! Not the same establishment people who won’t go head to head with Trump! I mean this is a joke and no disrespect Nancy Pelosi is two faced and needs to go! This is very bad for the Democratic Party and very damn depressing!

I just heard David Hogg is gonna run for DNC Vice Chair. I like this move. I've been saying for years, which Democratic Presidential nominee is gonna have the spine and kahunas, to make gun reform a CENTRAL policy running position? Not just a peripheral cliche line here and there, but really push the agenda for a deep American reckoning about guns, gun violence, gun culture and the safety and future of our children.

Jeffries was trained by Pelosi. Any daylight between the two is a matter of style vs substance.

This is a red line for me.

I'll vote down-ballot for Democrats, but I'm not voting at the federal level for the same gutless seniors who walked us into fascism.

Pretty clear that the old guard are never going to listen to their younger constituents. We’re never going to fix anything if we don’t allow for fresh faces and new ideas.

Huge mistake! With all due respect to the Old Guard, they really need to step aside and let the young people represent! AOC would have been perfect in this role!

It is unconscionable that Pelosi did that. Shame on her.

All of the fossil Dems still don’t get it why young people don’t bother to vote - there is nothing in it for them.

Get over yourself Nancy. You were amazing in lots of ways but time to support new talent

No leadership here. Dems have now lost the house - again - and we put the “same old, same old” - no pun intended- in charge. Definition of insanity. Sometimes leadership is stepping aside and mentoring their younger colleagues. Voters today are way younger than these people. They don’t relate to them. The Dems need new life and younger voices to get themselves some semblance of power to fight the new autocratic government that is being put in place. I’m almost 72 years old and while I still feel very young I’m glad I’ve retired and turned my job over to the next generation. People in Congress need to do the same thing. Look in the mirror. We lost the Presidency to a person bankrupt of any moral certitude. Their leadership didn’t work. Time for a change

How correct you are! Yes! I am 77 years old and I KNOW how difficult life can be for (us ~ elders)! Move over, please! We have such bright young people ready to step up to the plate… PLEASE, for all of us, for the sake of the entire country… step aside… before it is too late! Most of you have been in positions of power for many years ~ be considerate to our next leaders… offer to guide them as you encourage them to step up and learn from you! Step aside! Thank you for your long service.

I am extremely disappointed with the Democratic leadership refusing to hand over duties to younger, more feisty, uncowed, more worthy, chairs. We need fighters, not supplicants. We need drastic changes, not the status quo. I am not against aging, I am against the old guards clinging to power, when power should be wielded by future leaders of promise and progress. AOC and Jasmine Crockett exemplify the kinds of lawmakers who fight for us, not capitulate against us.

The center will not hold with the imbalance this great. Clinging to the side of the dam is not helpful. It's time to grab your surfboards. I commend AOC and the progressive caucus for not giving up. I believe once the dam breaks they will rise to the top. But it's gonna be messy.

Since LBJ the Democratic Party has been more interested in capitulating to the Republican Party and the donor class than in serving the needs of the Democratic base. Obama’s unilateral abandonment of the Public Option before the ACA negotiations started is a case in point. This has been the Democratic Party… in my observation … since 1968 when RFK was killed and The Party nominated Hubert Humphrey.

I’m one of those old farts and I’ll tell you it’s time for my peers to step aside Jasmine Crockett AOC we’ve got a list of strong younger Democrats that know how to deal with this environment. The old farts like me do not and they need to suck it up for the betterment of our country. Turn the rains over to the young. The old guys were excellent in their time their time has passed. We evolve or become extinct.

I am so disappointed in the Democrats failure to read the room. Why are we sticking with these status quo, timid, ruled by donor class politicians. We have several people who are energizing, passionate, and willing to fight such as AOC, Jasmin Crockett, Maxwell Frost. We need to be more progressive, not less. These old guard politicians are so unwilling to give up power, They are willing to sacrifice our country.
