This "budget" is the clearest signal yet that Republicans have absolutely no intention of allowing anything approaching free and fair elections at the mid-terms.

Judge Luttig (?) said earlier that it could be more than a generation, if ever, that we can get back to Jan. 19,2025. He is very disgusted with what passes as the GOP today.

he should be embarrassed for what has passed as the GOP, since Reagan...that MF'er really started the ball rolling with what has lead up to the shit happening today.

He should be, but somehow since Reagan appointed him he doesn't seem to see he helped start the slide.

You can also blame White Americans in this country that voted for this tragically downfall of the United States. We warned people about this. They didn't listen. The votets are going to hurt the most because of their vote.I didn't vote for this and so blessed I didn't.

Rural area healthcare will be nonexistent under Trump's Big Murder Bill. Healthcare is also a major employer another loss for rural areas. Trump said to MAGA "I don't care about you, I just want your vote". Societies and countries can only exist with empathy, Trump and MAGA have none.

"I can't vote for a Democrat because I'm Christian." What kind of silly nonsense is that? Anyone who thinks that way needs to get out and meet more people.

Anyone who thinks that way and voted for NeoHitler is not a real Christian.

I’m a 60 yr old public school substitute teacher on Medicaid. I’ve rarely been able to work more than 10 days a month unless I got a long term sub position. Plus there is no subbing in the summer. How am I supposed to get 80 hours of work a month? So now the Republican Congress thinks I’m too lazy to get health insurance even though I’m low income? Where are the programs to get me those extra volunteer or work hours? How many hours of work does a day of subbing count as since I teach 5 periods? This is nothing but a ruse to cancel my insurance with nothing to fall back on! I’ll still be too poor to qualify for the ACA! They don’t save any money unless they kick people off! Lots of low income people are on jobs like gig work and retail that end up with less than 80 hours a month and the occasional dry month. Shame on this administration!

Waj, you made me laugh at the description "engaged in a murder-suicide pact". Sadly, that is an apt description. Jess, you are NOT a lunatic. As soon as I heard about the birth certificate matching the i.d., I said to my husband, "Oh, they are trying to make it difficult for WOMEN to vote." I really did NOT want to change my last name but we mostly follow patriarchal rules. I DO have a passport in my married name. But I have printed up an application of a marriage license copy to protect myself! I feel like I am waking up in the early 1900s, before women gained the right to vote! Orwell would be SHOCKED to know how his fictional story has now become our reality.

Jess, I truly enjoyed your discussion points and knowledge. I 100% agree with you that there are winnable tRump voters out there. Members of my own family (NOT Maga) voted for 47 and never wanted to talk politics. Now, with everything happening, they are asking me, "Is it true that..." Name the topic. I give them the straight answer. They know that I am Independent and that I have never been involved in politics more than a vote; they see my current passion for electing someone who has character, integrity and concern for others. In missionary work we were taught to disciple one by one. This personal approach won't change everybody, may not be a quick change, but hopefully, through conversations about common ground, we can win them over. You are right, "show up and be there for these people."

Waj, classic, "inspire your best angels instead of your worst demons". Amen!

Thanks for having Jess on! I've been following her for as long as I've been on Substack. I'm also from a rural community, but in Indiana. So I can relate to a lot of what she talks about.

They really hid the cuts in Medicare like a half-ass magician screwing up a magic trick onstage. And I'm a a seriously old person at that and a Medicare user. And I missed it until now.More suffering for people on Medicaid. It is bleak, but we can push, shove back! We have no other choice.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the House GOP’s “big, beautiful bill” will add so much money to the debt that it will force across-the-board spending cuts to Medicare. That will trigger as much as $500 billion in Medicare cuts starting as soon as 2026.

Rescission will trigger massive cuts in many departments. MAGA has no intention of ever conceding defeat ever. It is becoming an oligarchy theocratic kleptocratic state.
