Attorney & activist George Conway joins The Left Hook to discuss how his former party is now a dangerous cult of personality that bends the knee to the whims of Trump, a narcissistic psychopath.
Absolutely am getting a passport & passport card. Already got the real ID. Next is to have my birth certificate showing my married name & vaccinations boosted if needed.
I am glad I tuned into this interview. I do not like the anteTrump Republican dogma. I am more of a liberal. When I listened to the conversation between Conway and Ali, I realized what they (and thus we) have in common. They both love and are committed to America’s democratic and multicultural (albeit flawed) society based on the Constitution. I could see how deeply they both feel about America. That commonality between (ante Trump) Republicans and the Dems explains how the two parties have reached productive consensus in the Congress all these years. For the last decade, legislating has become all about power and one-up man’s ship ( I blame Mitch McConnell for this). We need to re-instill the overriding faith in democracy among our legislators and among the American people.
I saw FEMA’s cut the disaster mitigation program in Louisiana “to cut fraud and waste” & Sen. Cassidy & state Republicans are expressing dismay over it and saying it helped so much. More face eating leopards party members shocked at their faces being eaten by leopards.
What we've seen and heard are constant lies from t-Rump, congress and his regime. Unfortunately, the telling of the lie is the strong side of the argument. IMHO by trying to refute the lies the democrats have been reduced to arguing from the defensive or weak side of the argument. In other words, trying to disprove the lie casts doubt in the eyes and minds of the public. To counter this strategy the democrats must go on the offensive by questioning the lies. Put them in the weak position. Force them to defend the indefensible.
I glean from your final point about Cult Trump that his cultists will cease to exist as bundles of discrete carbon units when Trump himself ceases to exist. I presume Stephen Miller thinks he's the logical successor, but if anyone were more despisable than Trump, it's hands down Stephen Miller. Steve Bannon is what I call a Kling-on, an entity of no consequence. Thank you and good night.
Messaging. What a concept. I have no idea what is wrong with alleged "Democratic messaging." They tell me what they want to do and I mostly agree that sounds like a realist approach. The GOPers, they just spout off 360°/24/7/365, make ad hominem attacks, belittle everyone they don't like (which turns out to be everyone), blather on endlessly about their precious faith and family values ad nauseum. These GOPers (because that's what they were before they went "egg/larva/pupa/vampire,") as hucksters and charlatans. Now, as full-blown Trump/maga/zombies, they scare me shitless. That's the message I get like an air-raid siren. (To those born only a few decades ago, an air-raid siren was meant to signal the end of the world by H-bomb. Now we just listen to Trump bloviating the end of the world by F-bomb). So, yes, I am afraid intellectually. When they rescind my passport and freeze my assets, I will become viscerally afraid. I am prepared for that. I mean, I will not be surprised.

Great guys ❤️❤️
“We’re all hysterical now.” 😂 So true.
Splendid
love that Waj and George are talking on a podcast!
History will (if we still have historians) record that America overthrew one king only to elect a new one 250 years later.
And the we THREW out another dumbass king and we learned the lesson again ! 🇺🇸
I’m in the DMV and George I’ll totally help get you set up.

Have the met a leopard? 🐆 Don’t fuck with leopards.
He’s like the king the colonists had a revolution against, King George the third, the mad king
I’ve been singing his song from Hamilton all week! 🤣

If you love your country you will not vote for any Republican anywhere for many many many years.
I disagree that we're seeing lunacy. This is beyond stress-testing the system.
Using the DOJ, and soon the IRS, to explicitly target individual personal enemies, is an express and overt authoritarian act.
What if SCOTUS deems this to be an "official act"?
Why would anyone, with the opportunity or means to flee, remain in a country where these actions are countenanced 2 months into a 4-year term?

Thanks George & Waj! Enjoyed this pairing. Cheers!
