Waj, this is such an important post. It explains racism on so many levels.

It elucidates what happens when relations are run by economics rather than respect and justice. Please people, share and VOTE!

As with everyone else, October 7 2023 was a day of pure horror. No one denies that. And as the past year has unfolded, more and more I see the Netanyahu Government USING that horror as an absolutely unhinged weapon. What Coates just went through is what so many of us who have tried to point out the unequal treatment of anyone with an Arab background is horrendous. Yes, separate roads. Yes checkpoints. In many places WALLS around Palestinian areas--you know, once called "ghettos." It has been documented by Jews themselves. And yet you are told that this means denying "Israel's right to exist." And I am lily white (well, more vaguely pink with freckles).

Gaza has 2 more square miles than Seattle has within its city limits, btw. Our population is 750K within the limits. Gaza has 2.1 million. And killing 42+ thousand Gazans is excused because they are "just" human shields. Where the hell are they supposed to GO to get away? Israel of course says they "warn" them to go elsewhere and then bomb the elsewhere. The UN a couple of weeks ago says that Gaza refugee "safe areas" now comprise 11% of the area of Gaza. That's like shoving 2.1 million people (less 40K by now) into my neighborhood.

WE are being attacked, in our humanity, by Bibi. And our leaders are going "oh, yeah, fine."

On Peters--she actually tried to tell the judge, earlier, that he REALLY believed the election was stolen. She INSISTED he believed that.

We just cannot handle the truth. One year in and it keeps getting worse and worse. How much more lethal do we have to be? Just stop it! Speak out against it! Vote against it! Be brave! Genocide is so evil! Empathize! Try pretending to feel the pain of being in the midst of massive death and destruction and ask WHY?

That Netanyahu dismisses a two-state solution out of hand tells us a lot about what he has in mind. The Israelis will have to force him and the Likud out, but they won't even though they were in the streets protesting them right up to October 7th. Now Bibi has shaped events into a war that the Israelis see as a win for them, which is bad news. One needs to ask the highly touted Mossad why they have not yet been able to retrieve the hostages...or are they even trying?

That's exactly right. Zionist terrorism was instrumental in the formation of the Jewish state. As it was in the formation of The Land Of The Free Home Of The Brave. Fair enough to question whether Jews or anyone else is entitled to a homeland. Islamofascists such as Hamas and Hezbollah do not accept the right of the Jewish state to exist. And they don't think they are entitled to a homeland but to the entire world. Jews as both occupiers and infidels are doubly cursed. That is what this war is about. There is no path to peace. No one wants peace less than Hamas. Hamas is who you should be putting pressure on to be concerned about the 40,000 of the citizens that they are the elected government of who are the victims of their decision on October 7 to force a showdown with Israel.

The sentencing, . . . .the sentencing was so delightfully refreshing to see and hear in an endless world of two levels of justice, it actually distracted me from the crisis of the lack of Democracy in Israel for a moment. Thank you for the joy. But back in the world of injustice, why not one country where all residents are equal, vote and have a right to representation, and services . . .you know, equality. No wonder we have no sincere push to reach that goal here, we openly support apartheid in other countries . . .and fund it!!!! And yes, this vote is a triage from even greater horrors.

All it will take is a catalyst like the ‘unintended’ massacre of Irish peacekeeping soldiers monitoring the Lebanese border and Netanyahu’s uncontrollable murderous extremism will alienate all Western support for Israel. He and his supporters will be the last to suffer the blowback. It will be entirely innocent Jewish individuals living in peaceful lives abroad.

The issue for our government is that they can’t throw Bibi overboard even if they want to. They are likely engaged in very sensitive negotiations to get Netanyahu to stop being an aggressor and begin withdrawing from occupied areas. However this requires there to be a functioning government in the area willing and able to abide by international law.

Coates “readily admits that until that trip he knew very little about the fraught politics of the Middle East.” He writes about a 10-day trip that he took to Israel-Palestine WITH THE ANTI-ZIONIST PALESTINIAN LITERARY FESTIVAL and he is given the time of day?! Coates himself says in regards to child rearing, “My work is to set the table, craft the argument, render the world as I imagine it and then go.” Render the world as you imagine it for your children. Do better for the rest of the world
