Thanks for the well framed analysis. Peaceniks won’t buy it but I love it.

Escalation did in fact lead to de-escalation in 1967 after 6 days Egypt, Syria, and Jordan recognized that it was a no win situation for them. Egypt and Syria likewise after 3 weeks in 1973. Jordan made peace with Israel after 1967, Egypt after 1973. Israel did end the occupation of Gaza in 2005. Palestinians reciprocated by electing the known terrorist group Hamas. There is simply no path to peace at this point in time. Hamas does not want 2 states. Hamas wants Sharia Law From The River To The Sea and Jews driven into the sea. That has always been and will always be their mission. And now with the rise of Shmotrich and Ben Gvir who are Nazis as you say and that is a damn shame, that is true of Israel as well. I'm not making any value judgments here as to whether Jews are entitled to a homeland at the expense of Palestinians. Very likely they are not. But in realpolitik terms Sharia Law from the river to the sea and Islamic terrorists in possession of Israel's nuclear arsenal is not in the US's interest.
