What does it say about the rest of us that the "most incompetent, unqualified reeks on Earth" are able to destroy democracy?

As serious as these issues are, I need to thank Danielle for making me burst out into laughter several times because she took the words right out of my mouth.

Danielle, it scares me when you say to get our affairs in order and be ready to flee. My husband and I are in our 70’s - our family is here. I will march, write and call our elected officials and donate to groups that are fighting for our Country. I am closer to the end of life than the beginning and here is where I shall stay.

I no longer have the resources to leave. I have become disabled and only receive a portion of my former income. If Social Security Disability Income is reduced I'm in deep shit.

Understood. I became further disabled from COVID and Long COVID and if funds are cut, and with it medical care, perhaps death in front of the WH to make a point tho' I'd probl be arrested before I died!

Perhaps I should put my body in the way of the open doors of an unmarked van. I know it's dark but I will have lived up to my moral code.

You two are The Alpha and Omega of Comedy today. How you can be so spot on and funny at the same time is a testament to your intelligence and integrity. Bravissimi! Thank you! ( I may have to invest in some adult diapers before the next episode of Democracy-ish LOL)

The rule of law [Constitution] comes before democracy. It comes before everything else because it’s “self evident.” Full stop! 💪🇺🇸Therefore, the question confronting us is is Mr. Trump above the law or not or are we [We the People] all subject to the rule of law?!?!?🇺🇸💪Stay focused!🇺🇸💪Without some notion of principles even though it’s impossible to obtain it perfectly….gotta have it U.S.A.!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

And where in this does SCOTUS fall? They are ensuring they find "work-arounds" for anything that is about the law. Bondi is of course as bad or worse but The SCOTUS6 are far worse than the Chicago7 in destroying the United States and all on which it once stood.

Vance gave what was supposed to be an acceptance speech for an award the Claremont Institute gave him earlier this month. I'll include the link that has a transcript and audio. I read the transcript and ended up practically writing a critical analysis while I told the story to another sub here.

Vance starts off railing against our friend, the NYC mayoral front runner. The VP obviously doesn't comprehend artful prose as he is very offended at some of the language used. The first 70% of this speech he is claiming in a twisted way all the current liberal, democratic and progressive ideals. He is actually claiming our life experience as his/their own! Intertwined with racist, angry comments. With 2 or 3 more pages to go hevbecomws himself again and lays out what he believes American citizenship must encompass.

Financially, I don't understand how we lose all of these services, like FEMA, and don't get the money given back to the States? Yes, the biggest contributing States will make out better (mostly blue). But if the Republican Party insists on voting for the the big, butt bill, then they made that choice for the their red States and will need to explain to their constituents how they lost those services for them and don't have the resources to compensate. This regime acts like we are eradicating fraud and abuse- uh, no, you took away our necessary services! Now tRump seems to decide which States he likes and will supply aid (Texas-Abbott), though they waited 72 hours, and which ones he does not (California-Newsome).

A niece of mine graduates from Johns Hopkins next year as a research scientist. She wants to find cures, which require funding and beliefs in REAL science. She is looking for grad schools in foreign countries due to this Administration's stance towards science. She said she is facing the reality that she may be living and working abroad for the rest of her life. :(
