I am frustrated by the widespread references to the price of eggs. The adult students at the community college where I have taught are struggling to pay their rent and provide even basic food for their families. Homelessness in the US increased by 18% in 2024; one in 8 public school students in NY experienced homelessness at some point in 2024; one in 6 American children are food insecure. It seems so condescending and misleading to dismiss the concerns of struggling familles as merely worry about the price of eggs. Of course the Trumpian oligarch regime is not the answer-quite the opposite. But why ridicule desperate families.
