Will the GOP Embrace Diversity and Stand with Their Black Nazi?

Republican nominee for Governor Mark Robinson allegedly referred to himself as a "Black Nazi" and wrote other inflammatory comments on a porn site. Will MAGA continue to embrace him?

I never thought the fictional character Clayton Bigsby would have a real-life avatar, but in the year 2024, the Republican nominee for Governor Mark Robinson has stepped up to take up the mantle and wear the hood. 

For those unfamiliar with the Chappelle Show, Bigsby is a hateful, blind, KKK leader who grew up not realizing he’s actually Black. Mark Robinson, however, doesn’t have the same excuse. He has always known his skin color. In fact, he titled himself “Black Nazi” according to a bombshell CNN investigation that tracked several posts Robinson made on the porn site “Nude Africa” between 2008 and 2012.

The self-proclaimed “Black Nazi” also wrote that he wanted to reinstate slavery, which makes sense considering his affinity for a genocidal white supremacist group that believed in the superiority of the Aryan race but is simultaneously self-defeating due to, you know, him being Black. Robinson, a fierce champion of conservative family values, referred to himself as a “perv”  and admitted that he enjoyed “peeping” on women in public showers when he was a teenager. (That’s something that Jesus would definitely not do, folks.) Robinson, a God-fearing anti-woke crusader, has previously condemned homosexuality and transgenderism as “filth,” but that didn’t keep him from sharing that he loved watching trans porn: “I like watching tranny on girl porn! That’s f*cking hot!” he wrote on the porn site. “It takes the man out while leaving the man in!” 

For his part, Robinson denied that he was the author of such messages. In response to CNN, he said he is a victim of a “high tech lynching” and compared himself to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, which probably wasn’t the best choice considering the latter’s sexual harassment accusation and marriage to right-wing insurrectionist Ginni Thomas. 

Robinson also refused to step down and maintained he will stay in the race. For Democrats, this is a gift from heaven. They should actively encourage Robinson to stay until the end and promote MAGA and the Trump-Vance ticket. The question is whether the GOP will continue embracing their Clayton Bigsby or retire him like Nikki Haley and Mitt Romney? 

After all, Robinson has all the fixins’ that the modern GOP loves. None of these allegations are remotely surprising considering his generous history of dispensing hate. This is the same man who casually used the antisemitic slur “hebe” against Jews and referred to Muslims as “little rag-headed bastards.” Considering Trump is now traveling with notorious Islamophobe Laura Loomer and dining with white nationalist leader and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, why should any of Robinson’s racism and embrace of Nazis be a problem? 

During the Obama Administration, Robinson wrote he’d “take Hitler” over the current leadership and in 2011 he posted several disparaging comments against Martin Luther King, whom he referred to as a “commie bastard” and “worse than a maggot.” Despite knowing all this, Donald Trump told his followers that “We have to cherish Mark Robinson…he’s like a fine wine.” He also proclaimed Robinson was “Martin Luther King on steroids,” adding, “he is better than Martin Luther King.” Apparently siding with everything that MLK fought against is what elevates Black men in the eyes of Trump.

Hypocrisy is another trait he shares with the MAGA cult leader. Robinson has championed a complete abortion ban without exceptions even though he admitted in 2022 he paid for his wife to have an abortion in the 1980s. Robinson, like Trump, also enjoys dabbling in extra-marital affairs, or at least dipping his toes in the water. His campaign just confirmed his email is registered on Ashley Madison, a site for married people to have affairs.

Like Trump, he has also promoted violence against his opponents. Last year he took to the pulpit to declare that “some folks need killing. It’s time for somebody to say it.” Instead of abandoning him, Trump and MAGA gave him a bear hug. Recently, it was reported that Robinson frequented pornography shops two decades ago. None of this was a dealbreaker for MAGA because he was a dutiful soldier willing to take on wokeness, attack liberals and defend the orange calf.  It’s precisely due to this prestigious pedigree of cruelty and ugliness that Robinson was rewarded and elevated.

So who cares about the latest revelations? It’s just more examples of Mark Robinson and MAGA being themselves but “steroids.” It’s the same hate, same hypocrisy, and same cruelty just dialed up a few notches without the dog whistles. It’s all projection, all the time. Every allegation against the rest of us is simply a confession.

A few days ago I wrote a piece on The Left Hook arguing we need to use “Nazi” to describe where MAGA is headed. I brought out all the receipts. For a party and movement that is so hostile and allergic to diversity, equity, and inclusivity, I am curious to see if they are willing to expand the tent and continue supporting Mark Robinson, a man who referred to himself as a “Black Nazi.”
