"Zuck is a Cuck": Meta's Billionaire Bends The Knee to MAGA

Mark Zuckerberg joins a rogue's gallery of billionaires capitulating to Donald Trump's threats and promoting MAGA's agenda against truth, democracy, and diversity for the sake of self-preservation.

Mark Zuckerberg, one of the richest men on Earth who made his money by selling your privacy, has volunteered to be another willing billionaire thug for Donald Trump and his regressive MAGA agenda. He joins Jeff Bezos, Musk, Thiel, Sam Altman, and nearly every other major CEO bending the knee and offering a tribute to their new Lizard King.

Trump is proving that the world’s most wealthy people have weak knees and spines made of jelly. They’re also terrified of running afoul of a violent, radicalized MAGA mob that takes its cues and targets from Donald Trump. All it takes is some public bullying and threats and they fold like napkins. Trump had previously threatened Zuckerberg with lifetime imprisonment and called Facebook an “enemy of the people.” Elon Musk, the shadow president, tweeted “Zuck is a cuck” in 2023 but all is well now as he joined Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Trump for dinner after the 2024 election. Perhaps seeing videos of Mike Pence running for his life on January 6th influenced Zuckerberg to turn into a willing Reek like so many Republicans whom Trump has humiliated in the past. After surviving an assassination attempt, Zuckerberg praised Trump as a “badass” and he’s even offered tribute in the form of $1 million to his inauguration campaign.

It bears noting Zuckerberg was never a humanitarian committed to liberal ideals or the advancement of society. Under his leadership, Meta has always been a for-profit enterprise seeking to expand its empire, influence, and digital footprint by any unethical means necessary. Facebook has been responsible for promoting disinformation that has led to violence against marginalized communities around the world. It was also one of the most influential platforms in promoting anti-vaccine conspiracies during the deadly Covid pandemic that killed over 1 million people in America.

I wrote about my experience working with the company to empower change agents in countries to use social media to combat disinformation and hate. During the Obama presidency, Facebook pretended to make combatting hate a priority but as soon as Trump was elected in 2016 they put it on the backburner. Still, they at least performed like they cared. Not anymore. On Friday, the same day Zuckerberg allegedly met Trump, Meta announced it was cutting back its DEI initiatives. Zuckerberg also appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which now officially serves as PR for MAGA, and dissed President Biden for pressuring the company to remove misleading content during the pandemic. (Zuckerberg never pledged 1 million dollars to Biden’s inauguration committee.)

Now with Trump, the most dishonest President who has ever lived, Meta announced it was dropping its fact-checking programs and changing its hateful conduct policies thus making it more lucrative and inviting for the most toxic, right-wing trolls who flourish on Elon Musk’s X. How do you think this will work out for democracy, people of color, women, and those who aren’t Trump’s bootlickers? Just to be as unsubtle as possible, Zuckerberg appointed UFC CEO and Trump ally Dana White to its board of directors and promoted Republican Joel Kaplan to lead Meta’s global affairs operation.

The broligarchy will learn the hard way. Fascists always demand more money, more obedience, more subservience, and ultimately more tributes. Their loyalty is skin-deep and transactional. In the end, all they care about is staying in power. Zuckerberg, Bezos, and other billionaires would do well to read up on Nazi Germany and how Hitler rose to power thanks to industrialists who were later tried as war criminals in Nuremberg. The broligarchy has so much money that they can probably retreat to lavish underground bunkers - like the one Zuckerberg has in Hawaii - and avoid any accountability for their complicity. That being said, they will forever be remembered as the villains in our children’s history books.

Zuckerberg represents all these men whom fate has given so much, and yet they were unwilling and incapable of using that wealth and influence to fight back against a tyrant and a bully.
