The war in Gaza has gone on for 10 months now with nearly 40,000 Palestinians killed by Israel in response to Hamas’s terrorist attacks on October 7th. A majority of American voters want a ceasfire and over 50% of Biden voters believe Israel is committing a genocide.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ignores and crosses every single red line imposed by President Biden resulting in daily instances of humanitarian disaster and war crimes. This week, U.S. officials will head to Israel for a “now or never" moment” to secure a hostage and ceasefire deal. This will occur in the midst of Iran potentially retaliating and escalating the war into a full-blown regional crisis.
Dr. H.A. Hellyer, a scholar on Middle Eastern politics and security studies, believes that by enabling Israel’s occupation of Palestinians and ongoing war crimes, President Biden is undermining both peace and an international rules-based order. However, with five months left in his presidency, Dr. Hellyer suggests there is a way for President Biden to use his immense power to establish a much needed course correction for the United States, Israel, and the world.
We discuss this and much more in the latest episode of Chai Talk. Give us a listen!
