KILL BILL: Elon Musk Takes on Trump

The honeymoon might be over. The MAGA girls are fighting and the drama is spilling out in public as Musk is rallying Republicans to strike down Trump's billionaire bill.

We all knew the Musk-Trump bromance was doomed for failure, and the only questions were when and how long before the relationship soured. It seems the answers are June 4, 2025, and less than a year.

Two fickle, insecure, petty egomaniacs fueled by an insatiable desire to be loved and adulated could never share the spotlight. Last Friday, Musk allegedly left the White House to concentrate on reviving his flailing Tesla company that has suffered a massive reputational hit as a result of the South African racist’s dismantling of our government and promotion of Nazis and white supremacy conspiracies on social media.

Perhaps fueled by his alleged drug addiction, Musk has been posting incessantly against Trump’s bullshit billionaire bill that will give the richest Americans tax cuts at the expense of our Medicaid, Social Security, and health care. It represents one of the largest wealth transfers (theft) in American history and would balloon the deficit. Americans will die, but that doesn’t bother Republicans, such as Senator Joni Ernst, who remarked, “Well, we are all going to die,” and proceeded to further troll her critics. Senator Rand Paul has also come out against Trump’s bill, but not because he cares about saving lives. Nope, he’s just a huge deficit hawk, and his critiques have earned him the ire of Trump.

Musk doesn’t care about human rights, saving lives, or the deficit. He only cares about himself. According to Axios reporting, he’s “butt hurt” for 4 specific reasons. First, Trump’s legislation cuts the electric vehicle tax credit that benefits Tesla. Second, the Administration balked at Musk’s proposal to have the FAA use the Starlink satellite system for national air traffic control. Third, Musk wanted to stay on in his “special government employee” role beyond the 130-day time limit, but the White House denied his request. The fourth and final straw was on Saturday night when Trump rejected Musk’s pick and ally Jared Isaacman to be the NASA Administrator. That’s what finally ignited Musk referring to Trump’s signature bill as a “disgusting abomination.”

To quote Ken Watanabe’s character from Godzilla: “Let them fight.”

Anything that can slow down a fascist regime, expose faultlines, create leaks and fissures, and have extremists turn on each other should be championed by the majority. This is like throwing sand in the gears of a machine run by the world’s most incompetent, reckless, and arrogant people.

In this mid-week check-in with my Democracy-ish co-host Danielle Moodie, we explore the growing cracks within MAGA and also the latest examples of their cruelty, which is inspiring pushback and resistance from the masses, including corporations backing away from cowardly law firms that pre-emptively bent the knee to Trump. We also discuss Pete Hegseth's order to remove Harvey Milk’s name from a Navy ship and former Biden White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s decision to become an Independent.
